"You know what? Rot in hell, Adrian."
The rest of the school year was weird. The teachers were acting strangely about this Sirius Black guy. Adrian and I are now dating and it's great. Tracey loved to tease us and it was quite entertaining. I found out the story to that Harry Potter kid, he seems chill. I remember the two of us rode Buckbeak before rumors spread that Draco got his dad to execute the poor thing. I yelled at Draco for that multiple times.
I also heard that Draco got a punch in the nose by Hermione which gained her some mad respect from me. Finally, someone else who doesn't want to deal with his bullshit. But now it was close to the end of the year.
Something did happen with Harry I'm guessing because he got a new broom. Everyone ran outside to the courtyard to see him fly it including me and Tracey. we stayed by the stairs where Draco's group come up behind us. I rolled my eyes as they approached but I watched as Harry got on his new broom and fly off into the sky.
I saw Draco's face flip and I laughed at his anger. "You jealous Dracey?" I mocked at him. I knew he was mad that Harry had a better broom than his now.
"Y/N, it's ok to not be a bitch sometimes," Pansy spoke up from beside her loyal husband.
"Oh is it now?" I mumbled to myself as Tracey laughed. The two of us turned around to head back inside and I heard Draco's group turned too. I'm guessing they were going back to the common room as well.
Tracey and I just laughed the entire time until her laugh faded and her walking pace slowed.
"What's wrong?" I asked at her sudden stop but she doesn't respond.
I look to where she's looking and I see Adrian... snogging Daphnee Greengrass. Wow. My stomach dropped to my feet as the group behind us laughed at me. They all knew that Adrian and I were together. I knew he was doing it willingly too because he had her pinned against a wall.
He stopped and turned to see the crowd of people behind him. When our eyes met he saw the disappointment in my eyes. I slowly walked up to him.
"Y/-"
"Don't." I sighed as I grabbed my elbows across my stomach. My eyes brimmed with tears but I refused to cry over this. I sucked at teeth before I started to talk. "You know, you could've told me I didn't mean shit to you. That would've hurt less than whatever this is." I motioned to Daphnee who was still catching her breath. "You know what? Rot in hell, Adrian." I said through gritted teeth as I shoved his chest backward making him stumble a little before storming away.
I threw my clothes into the chest and slammed it shut before leaving it so Filch could load the stuff on the train. It was time to leave for the summer. At first, I was upset but now I was glad. I would have to see Iris again and honestly, I don't know how she feels about me. She hasn't written back to me at all and didn't want me to come home for Christmas. I wish I could just stay at one of my friend's houses over summer. It would be easier.
---
I laid my head on the cool window of the train as some people scooted into the cab as well. It was Theo, Tracey, and Cedric.
"Hey, they told me what happened," Cedric said as he slid next to me and wrapped his arm around me.
"Yeah, I'm fine. He was a jerk anyway." I sighed as I leaned into his hug. "But now I have to go home and I don't know that I want to honestly."
"Why's that?" Cedric asked.
"I don't know that my aunt wants me back. I've owled her but she hasn't written back all year except for the time she said she didn't want to see me over Christmas break. Oh and once to sign the form for Hogsmeade."
"How bout you come live with me and my father over summer? Tracey lives not too far from our house." He proposes making me shoot my head up.
"Really?" I was grateful I had friends that actually cared.
"Really." He promised.
---
When the train got back to the station Cedric led me out to see his father. His father was really sweet and let me stay at their house over summer. Cedric was like my older brother I've never had and I couldn't love it more. As we were walking to the car I was met face to face with the one person I didn't want to see anymore. This time he was standing next to his father.
"Move," I said sharply to the tall blonde who just scoffed at me before moving out of the way.
"You two really do not like each other do you?" I heard Cedric pipe up after the interaction.
"I hate him." I clenched my jaw as we reach the car.
