"Every day, every hour, this very minute perhaps, dark forces attempt to penetrate this castle's walls."
"I'll catch up to you later," I said to Theo and Tracey as we exited the train.
"Why don't you just come with us now?" Tracey asked.
"I have to do something," I told them. They just shrugged before walking off. I knew Draco was going to do something to Harry and I wanted to wait for him.
After everyone had cleared the station, he finally came out. I pushed myself off of the railing I was leaning on. We walked towards each other.
"So, what did you do," I asked him.
"Let's just say he won't be here for too long."
I nodded my head with a smile. "Well, shall we?" He asked playfully holding out his arm for me to take.
"We shall." I joked back as I wrapped my arm through his. We walked through the dark pathway of the station until we reached the gates of the school. We entered and apparently mandatory checks were being done now.
Snape met us at it so he could vouch for us if needed.
"Names?" Flitwick asked us as we came across him. It annoyed me as I had known him for years now.
"Y/N Hartwood and Draco Malfoy," Draco responded. He didn't wait for a response from Flitwick before he walked forward. Aurors were waiting to do the check.
They started scanning through our stuff until Filch brought out Draco's walking stick. "What's this cane here, then?"
"It's not a crane, you cretin, it's a walking stick." He said obviously upset. I tried to contain my laughter and for the most part it worked.
"And what exactly would you be wanting with a walking stick? It could be construed as an offensive weapon." I rolled my eyes at the squib.
"It's all right, Mr. Filch. I can vouch for Mr. Malfoy." Snape said calmy. He still didn't give it back.
I got tired of it so I reached over and snatched it from him. I passed it to Draco hoping he didn't 'accidentally' whack Filch with it.
When he took it from my hands he turned to his right and I followed his gaze.
"Nice face, Potter." I let out an audible laugh making Draco snicker as well. We turned and started to walk off towards the school, Snape following behind us.

We all sat in the Great Hall awaiting Dumbledores annual speech. We had all changed into our mandatory school robes before coming in. I zoned out most of the sorting hats speech and all. Seeing everyone in here has really brought everything into perspective. Seeing Dumbledore brought it into perspective. I would have to betray everyone I know so I didn't die. I knew it was selfish but I didn't know what else to do.
I looked down the table to see Draco. He was leaning his cheek against one of his hands obviously zoned out. Draco was really good at concealing what he felt but I could tell everything that has happened really took a toll on him.
Everyone started to applaud at something making me snap out of my daze.
"Now, as you know, each and every one of you was searched upon your arrival here tonight. And you have the right to know why." It was Dumbledore. The thought sent chills down my spine when I realized this was the last speech he was going to give in the beginning of the year. "Once there was a young man, who, like you, sat in this very hall, walked this castle's corridors, slept under it's roof. He seemed to all the world a student like any other. His name? Tom Riddle." My attention really peaked at this making me snap my head towards the headmaster.
"You alright?" Tracey asked from across the table.
I nodded my head in response. "Today, of course, he's known all over the world by another name. Which is why, as I stand looking out upon you all tonight. I'm reminded of a sobering fact. Every day, every hour, this very minute perhaps, dark forces attempt to penetrate this castle's walls. But in the end, their greatest weapon is you. Just something to think about. Now, off to bed. Pip-pip." Everything and nothing swarmed inside my thoughts at once. Even he was scared. Even he knew that there was a chance that someone could be in here now.
Theo and Tracey looked at me in confusion. "You sure your alright?" She asked me again. I just nodded my head once more.
It wasn't going to be easy. I couldn't just kill this man. There had to be a way around it and I was going to figure it out.
