"Then I collided with something. Or someone."
I ran out onto the field with my broomstick in my hand.
"Good. Draco told you." Graham said as I approached.
"Yeah," I responded.
"Ok, I got us an extra practice day so we could work on each different position. What I mean by that is you will work with the people in your positions to help each other improve. First, we have to warm-up."
Everyone got on their brooms and kicked off headed to one side of the field. When Graham blew his whistle everyone pushed their broom forward and flew through the sky. Everyone went back and forth two times before stopping again. Graham gave us corrections and we did it again. After a while of that, everyone split up into their groups.
Unfortunately for me, that meant Draco. And only Draco. The two of us had been 'getting along' recently so maybe it wouldn't be that bad.
I saw him and flew over to him.
"Hey," I greeted when I was close enough so he could hear me. He looked up and did a small smile.
"Hey," He greeted back.
"Alright, everyone will practice and the other gives corrections. It's that simple, clear?" Everyone nodded as they usually do in response. "Good. I'll do round to make sure it's still going ok." The two of us just stared blankly at each other not knowing what to do before Draco took charge.
"Ok, I say we do speed drills and then let the snitch go each giving corrections. Clear?" He mocked the last word and tried imitating Graham. I snorted out a laugh at the sudden joke.
"Clear, Mr. Malfoy."
Draco decided to go first so he flew to the other end of the field so he could fly towards me.
Once he was in position I raised my arm and dropped it so he'd know when to go. My arm fell at my side and he flew towards me. His broom was one of the nicest brooms out there. A Nimbus 2001. The rest of the team also had them except for me. Probably because I'm new to it. I don't even know how the team could afford that many of those brooms.
I felt a rush of air blow by me almost knocking me off my broom as Draco sped by.
"Next time try to lean forward a little more and keep your legs steadier," I said as he came back over to where I was. "Other than that, good job."
"Ok. Your turn." He said blandly. I nodded and flew over to where he did. When I got there and turned around, Draco's hand was already up. I gripped my hands on the woods, leaned forward, and took a deep breath.
His arm dropped to his side and I zoomed through the air, continuously leaning forward to move me faster. Draco's small figure was becoming larger as I got closer and closer.
And closer.
Then I collided with something. Or someone. We both tumbled through the air and pummeled to the ground. I hit the hard earth and my head hit it harder. I shut my eyes as I winced in pain. My head exploded and I knew that I would have a bad headache later.
I finally opened my eyes to see a pair of grey eyes staring back at me. His hands were spread out by my head, bracing himself so he didn't fall on me. He rolled off of me and onto his back beside me.
"That's your bloody fault." He groaned and clutched his wrist.
"Yeah, I know. My bad." I responded
Soon Graham, followed by the rest of the team, landed next to us. He stuck out a hand for me as Goyle helped up Draco.
"You guys ok?" My hand caressed the back of my head where it hit the floor.
"Oh yeah. Bloody brilliant." I said sarcastically making him chuckle a little.
"Crabbe, Goyle, mind helping Y/N and Draco to Madame Pomfrey?" The two boys rushed towards a whining Draco and helped him walk even though it was his wrist that hurt.
We walked through the cold castle halls finally arriving at the infirmary. Madame Pomfrey rushed over to me and led to me a bed. Crabbe and Goyle waiting for Pomfrey's instructions on where to put Draco.
"Put him on this bed." She pointed to the bed on the left of mine. She rushed away for a moment and Draco's two friends were asking him if he was going to survive and what hurt.
"Oh, I think my wrist is broken. She might have to cut it off." He said in full seriousness which made me chuckle. There's no way he believes that.
"We're so sorry, Draco. You'll have to tell your father and get Hartwood suspended or even expelled." Crabbe looked at me with a nasty snarl.
Draco turned to me and shook his head. "Maybe I will." He said.
Pomfrey came back and shooed the two minions out of the room and shut the door behind them. She walked over to Draco first and examined his wrist.
"It's just a little bruised is all." She said. I was holding in my laughter as best I could but a small smirk crept onto my lips. 'Oh, I think my wrist is broken. She might have to cut it off.'
She moved over to a couple of bottles of juices and potions and mixed them before giving it to Draco to drink. He looked at it in disgust before chugging it down making horrible faces. I laughed at him and he shot me a warning glance.
"It's not funny, dimwit." He said.
"Meh. It's kinda funny."
"You two hush!" Pomfrey warned from across the room. When she came back over she looked at the back of my head. "Ooo you're fine darling. Just a small bump back there." She said as she handed me some chocolate. I took to gratefully and bit off a small piece.
