"That was very immature of you."
Lunch rolled around and it was time to prank Megan and her group. Fred and George were planning on making her seem like she was going crazy. We were going to use a spell to magnify our voices but only in her ear so no one else could hear us. We were going to try our best not to laugh and to disguise our voices. We were going to use George's wand to do the spell.
We cast it and took a deep breath before mumbling words she couldn't understand so it just sounded a bit creepy but nothing out of the normal yet. We were sitting at the Gryffindor table withing an eyeshot of her and her group. She just looked around so far but acted normal.
Then George said a real sentence.
"I will find you." He lowered his voice down two or three octaves which was impressive. We could hear what she was saying now.
"Did you say something?"
"No...?"
"Oh ok."I snickered a short, quiet laugh but knew I had to stop so I didn't make any noise.
"I will feed you to the Dementors of Azkaban," Fred whispered into it now. Megan looked thoroughly panicked and all her friends gave her weird looks.
"Watch your back." I finally said into it. Megan stood up quickly and looked behind her.
"Megan? You ok?" One of her friends asked. She nodded but ran out of the Great Hall.
The three of us High-Fived and gave each other a hug in celebration.
"That was very immature of you." A cross voice said through our cheers. Hermione. We always got along but at the beginning of this year she snapped at me and I didn't know why. "That poor girl." She shook her head before looking at me then Fred and George. "You should apologize."
"Why?" They both exaggerated through breaths.
"That's half the fun." I joined in. She rolled her eyes.
"Fine, I'll do it myself." She walked out of the Great Hall and followed Megan.
We looked at each other again, first in silence. Then cries of laughter. After our fit was done I told them I wanted to go somewhere before lunch was over.
The tree. I wanted to see if whoever it was had responded.
They said bye as I exited the Great Hall as well but instead of staying inside I went out. I ran down the grassy hill to the tree again. I saw parchment again but I didn't know if it was the same one or not.
When I arrived it was a new one with a new message.
Maybe, but I found the tree first. And it doesn't matter who I am.
I took out a pencil again and wrote below that message,
Doesn't matter. We can share the tree. And yes it very well does matter who you are. I'm curious, mystery person.
I smiled at the note before slumping my back against my tree and staring at the lake.
