"Malfoy, do you have a quill she could borrow?"

"Hey, sorry I'm late." I panted after just running from Professor Umbitch. I sat down at the long lunch table in front of Theo and Tracey. They just exchanged glances and said it was fine.

"What'd you do this time?" Tracey asked. Her voice sounded a bit disappointed.

"Got caught selling Wizard Wheezes with Fred and George." I let out a laugh, still out of breath. "We all had to sprint in different directions to avoid getting caught." I laughed again. It was the most fun I'd had in a while.

"If you're not careful you're going to get another detention, Y/N," Tracey warned with Theo agreeing with her.

I rolled my eyes playfully. I had gotten numb to the pain the quill caused. I had been in detention so often at this point it just felt like a little bit of pressure. I guess that's not too good but oh well.

"I'll be fi-" My attention shifted when I saw two gingers running towards the Slytherin table.

"There you are Y/N!" They both said at the same time. A smile spread on my face at the greeting. "Come with us." They said as each one grabbed one of my arms and hoisted me off the bench and back down to my feet. They started to pick up their pace and I did the same. Before I knew it we were outside in the courtyard.

George dug in his pocket and brought out a small box.

"Here you go, Fred." He said as he tossed it to him. Fred caught it and opened it, saying a spell after he did so. Soon a light orange ball flew out and Fred caught it in the palm of his hand.

"Catch, Hartwood." Fred now tossed it to me. I wasn't expecting it so I fumbled with it before it settled between my two hands.

I then tossed it back to George who spun on his heels and caught it behind him. I rolled my eyes with a laugh at how he was showing off.

Soon, a crowd of students had gathered around the three of us to watch us toss the bright light, firework thing back and forth making trick shots now and again. The crowd was cheering and a smile never left my face. George had thrown it to me letting me catch it. But right as it was about to come down it whisked away. I looked to where it had gone.

Umbitch.

The crowd groaned in disappointment. She walked away pleased with herself. Well, now my smile left. The three of us looked around at each other. As soon as Umbitch was out of earshot I spoke over the mumbles.

"Eat shit Umbitch." I hated her more than I've hated anyone. Even Draco.

Later that day it was the last period. Potions.

I had continued to share a table with Draco. We didn't talk much except when I was giving him answers, which he didn't need. I hated not having anyone in this class to talk too, it was boring.

"Today, you will be taking notes. So take out your quill and a piece of parchment." Snape's monotone voice echoed throughout the darkroom. I started to dig through my small brown bag. I set a piece of parchment on the table but my heart started to race when I couldn't find a quill.

Soon I felt a figure appear in front of me.

"Is there a problem, Miss. Hartwood." Snape said crossly, his hands linked behind his back.

"I- I just can't find my quill," I said quickly.

He cleared his throat before speaking. "Does anyone have a quill Hartwood could borrow?" He asked the class. No one said anything.

I looked around and my eyes met Harry's and he nodded his head.

"Sir, I have-" Harry started holding out a quill

"Malfoy, do you have a quill she could borrow?" Snape interrupts him and addresses Draco. He looks at me then back at Snape.

"I don't know, sir. Let me check." He responded before digging into his bag once more. Soon he brought out a white and black feathered quill. He offered it to me and I took it mumbling a quiet thank you to which he didn't respond. I took out my ink as well and opened my potions book.

Snape started to instruct us on what to write down. The class was quiet until the old door creaked open. Standing in the doorway stood Umbridge. She looked around the class and smiled as she walked towards Snape. Was she checking on every teacher?

"You applied first for the defense arts post, is that correct?" She asks as she circles around the teacher.

"Yes." He says blandly.

"But you were unsuccessful?" She asks with a small amount of, very obviously, fake sorrow.

"Obviously." He was now annoyed at the comment and I could tell he was trying not to hurt someone.

"Hmph." Umbitch walks out of the room and someone a couple of tables down, in front of Snape, snickers. Soon I hear a loud smack and I knew Snape had hit someone upside the head. I snorted a laugh and as I did Draco looked at me. Our eyes met but he looked back down shaking his head a little.

I furrowed my eyebrows but ignored it.
