We got off the train and, of course with my luck, Draco and his gang are right in front of us. The three of them, Draco, Crabbe, and Goyle, started to snicker under their breaths.

"I'm surprised the ministry is still letting you walk around free, Potter." Oh god, here we go. "You better enjoy it while you can. I expect there's a cell in Azkaban with your name on it." Everyone knows Draco hates Harry. He can't leave him alone worth a damn. Typically Harry just takes the heat and ignores Draco but this time...

He lunged at him.

Ron had to hold him back so he didn't "accidentally" kill Draco. It's a shame. He should've let him.

When Harry lunged, Draco's face had a look of disgust written over it. He adjusted his black tie on his black suit before muttering more words.

"What'd I tell you? Complete nutter." He scoffed as he turned to walk off. The two of my friends and I stood there trying not to laugh at the two who looked like children fighting on a playground.

"Just stay away from me!" Harry yelled out afterward making me have to clasp a hand over my mouth so I didn't snort out a laugh.

After the three of them left Ron started to let go of Harry. "It's only Malfoy." He said calmly. "What do you expect?" Harry, without responding, started to walk off down the pathway.

"Well, that was weird," I whispered to Theo who nodded his head. Apparently, he wasn't the only one who heard.

"What are you guys still doing here?" The feminine voice said sharply at us making my face scrunch up.

"Excuse me?" I responded back crossing my arms and leaning into my hip.

"Shouldn't you be running off to your boyfriend Y/N?" She snapped back. Ron put a hand on her shoulder and muttered something but she just shook off his hand.

"Boyfriend?" My eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "I hope you don't mean Malfoy." I let out a breathy laugh. I'm in shock. I'm officially in shock.

"Yes, I mean Malfoy." She mocked my tone. "Don't think no one saw you two at the Yule Ball. It's kinda obvious, you can't keep it a secret forever." Her tone was nastier than usual. What happened to her??

"I hate him. Hate. I'd rather die than date him." I lifted my nose up and scoffed at her blank expression before storming to catch a ride on the carriages.

----

We sat in the black carriage pulled by the black skeletal looking horse. It looked like it hadn't been fed in ages. I've never noticed them before which was odd. I've always thought they were pulled by nothing.

When we approached the castle my eyes widened like they did every time I saw the structure. It was so surreal but fantastic at the same time.

We all got out and walked into the great hall for the annual dinner. I always looked forward to this because of all the food we could eat. It was a giant feast.

"Did you hear about what everyone's saying?" Tracey asked as we all sat down in our normal seats.

"Which thing?"

"The one about you-know-who not really returning and that Harry and Dumbledore were lying." She added on and my face softened at the memory.

"Yeah. Amos told me about it. I think it's bull shit. Are we supposed to believe that Cedric dropped dead with absolutely no reason behind it? The ministry just doesn't want everyone to be scared or something. Voldemort is back and we can't do a thing about it." I emphasize his name because no one said it making it more and more powerful. He feeds off of fear and by living in fear of the name is living in fear of the being. And I'm not scared of him. I dare him to come and fight me. He killed my family.

I DARE HIM TOO. I HOPE HE TRIES.

"You ok, Y/N?" Theo said tapping me slightly waking me up from my trance.

"What? Yeah, I'm good." I said shaking off the thoughts.

"You were muttering something... you sure you're ok? You've been acting strange ever since the train." Tracey added on, concern filling both of their eyes.

"No no. I'm fine. It's nothing." I lied. They slowly nodded and I knew they didn't believe me at all but they weren't going to keep questioning me.

"Good evening, children!" A voice boomed from the front of the room. I knew who it was already. The headmaster. "Now, we have two changes in staffing this year. We're pleased to welcome back Professor Grubbly-Plank who will be taking care of Magical Creatures while professor Hagrid is on temporary leave." Why was he gone? Someone said he got fired, others said he was Voldemort himself... I don't know how people come up with this stuff but nonetheless, I was worried about Hagrid. I didn't know why he left. I'll go down later tonight and see.

"We also wish to welcome our new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Professor Delores Umbridge. And I'm sure you'll all join me in wishing the professor good luck." I could tell by the way he said the last sentence that he didn't like her very much. "As usual, our caretaker, Mr. Filch, has asked me to remind you-" A loud but quiet cough giggle thing? Shit, I don't know, but it came from a very pink lady. She stood up quietly and clasped her hands together as she walked towards the podium.

"She definitely doesn't teach defense against the dark arts," I said skeptically looking to Theo and Tracey as they shared the same expression as most of the hall. Confusion.

"Thank you, Headmaster, for those kind words of welcome. And how lovely to see all your bright, happy faces smiling up at me." Was she blind? I was this close to flipping her off. "I'm sure we're all going to be very good friends." She said without any emotion at all. She took a deep breath before continuing.

"The Ministry of Magic has always considered the education of young witches and wizards to be of vital importance. Although each headmaster has brought something new to this historic school... progress for the sake of progress must be discouraged."

"Did she just tell us to not learn?" I heard a kid at the Gryffindor table say to his twin. Fred and George.

"I hope so. This year gonna be-"

"Great." They twins said simoutaniousley making me laugh a little.

"Let us preserve what must be preserved. Perfect what can be perfected, and prune practices that ought to be prohibited." She says with a smile that I wish I could just wipe off. She then walks back to her seat and everyone starts to hesitantly applaud her.

"Thank you, Professor Umbridge, that really was most illuminating." The rest of the speech got boring. Something about new teaching strategies and how we were supposed to dress appropriately like tucking in and ironing our shirts well so we didn't look like, and I quote, "Hippy-lumps" according to Umbridge.

Oh, I could already tell. We were going to get along great.
