Chapter 31

"Shit!" Paulit ulit na sabi ni Gab habang mabilis na nagda-drive pauwi sa vacation house.

There's battle between his mind and his heart. His mind was telling him to be careful but his heart was pulling him towards Francine. And he totally knew which one was dominating that time.

Halos liparin niya ang daan patungo sa vacation house kaya naman ilang saglit lang ay nakauwi na siya. Nagmadali siyang bumaba ng kaniyang kotse at malalaki ang hakbang na nagtungo papasok sa bahay.

He was about to enter the house when he saw Francine through the glass walls. Parang kararating lang din nito, sinalubong ito ni Aling Nita.

"Ano hija nagkita ba kayo ni Gabriel?" Aling Nita asked. She looked worried.

Gab's heart pounded. He went closer to the door. He clearly saw Francine's beautiful but sad face. She was on the brink of tears, obviously fighting them back to look okay.

"Hindi po Aling Nita, hindi ko po sila nakita." Francine said, shaking her head, forcing a smile.

Gab sighed.

"Okay ka lang ba anak?"

Tumango si Francine. Her eyes were glistening. She was biting her lips.

Gab's heart melted. Hindi niya napigilan ang sarili ang mabilis na pumasok sa loob ng bahay at mabilis na nilapitan ang dalaga.

He cupped her face with his palms while tenderly looking into her eyes.

Napabuntong hininga siya.

"Are you okay?" He asked apologetically.

There, Francine's tears flowed. Gab wiped them with his hands and wrapped Francine with his arms. Doon na tuluyang napaiyak si Francine.

"I'm sorry." He whispered.

They remained on that position and he just let Francine cry on his chest. There were no words. There were just heart beats.

"I know that I hurt you Gab, and I am willing to accept this punishment para maramdaman mo na sising sisi ako nang nasaktan kita. Pero mahal na mahal kita at hindi ko kayang makita kang may kasamang iba. Ang sakit sakit."

Gab just hugged her.

"I know I must endure this pain. Tanggapin mo lang ako uli sa puso mo Gab." Francine said in a muffled voice.

Tanggapin mo lang ako uli sa puso mo Gab.

The words echoed in his mind and he got confused. He didn't understand why but fear slowly taken over, slowly scraping the cover of unhealed bruises of the past.

He immediately took his arms off Francine. She looked at his eyes and was confused of his behavior.

"G-Get some rest." Gab said and stormed out of the door and ran towards the shore.

"Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!" He shouted while kicking sands on the shore. He was frustrated, angry and sad. His emotions got him confused. His brain cannot make sense of it.

He kicked some more and didn't stop until he was exhausted.

He was all drained when he laid down on the sand. His chest was going up and down. He listened to the slapping of waves on the shore and watched the stars to calm down.

Mahal na mahal kita at hindi ko kayang makita kang may kasamang iba. Tanggapin mo lang ako uli sa puso mo Gab.

He sighed. Sana nga totoo.

Francine's words kept echoing inside his mind. Ang sarap pakinggan. But sweet words were leaving a sting in his heart. It brings put fear and doubt inside of him. Then there comes the pain.
