When Beckendorf was offered rebirth, he refused, saying that he was waiting for someone - Silena Beauregard, the love of his life.
So from Elysium, Beckendorf watched as the Second Titan War played out. And even though it became clear Silena was the spy, he still loved her with all his heart, and still had no doubt she would reach Elysium.
