"RAVENCLAW"
The moment that would define the Hogwarts life of Patrick Larson had come to pass. Hastily the small boy stood up and stared towards the eruption of applause at the blue tied table. Making his way over, he happened to glance at the other tables each wearing another colour of tie. His eyes met with a proud looking boy seated at the Gryffindor table. His hair was ginger but he had dark eyes.
Patrick wasn't too sure of where to sit, the table wasn't necessarily full but he felt weird sitting with strangers. All his life he'd had his two twin sisters by his side. Now more than ever he wished they were here so he didn't have to go through this entire experience alone. "You can sit next to me if you'd like" a small boy smiled. Patrick nodded gratefully and clambered onto the seat next to the boy and opposite a very pretty girl with dark curly hair.
"I'm Leo Harden" the boy smiled while extending his hand in Patrick's direction. The boy had been sorted a few students before Patrick, at the time the boys head had been spinning by seeing the crowds of people looking up at the timid first years. "Patrick Larson" he replied while shaking Leo's hand, "I'm Penelope Clearwater' the girl smiled as she too shook hands with Patrick "second year"
Patrick thought that Penelope looked older than 12. Her hair was like a halo around her head emphasised by the floating candles above her. She had dark fox shaped eyes and a slender face accentuating her sloping nose. Patrick had always appreciated noses deemed as 'different' as he himself had been blessed with a Greek nose. He could tell Penelope's was a Roman nose. Greek and Roman noses were similar in many ways however Greek noses were arguably slightly bigger.
The remaining children were sorted into their houses as Patrick sat with his hands clasped in his lap suddenly wondering why he had been so excited about this. As he sat staring at the empty silver platters wondering if they'd have any potatos, he felt rather scared which was something Harriet Larson had rarely let him feel before.
"Welcome or welcome back" a booming voice called, Patrick turned his attention to the top table where a tall white haired wizard with a trailing beard stood proud wearing magnificent robes of periwinkle. "To those who join us today, let you make Hogwarts your home, the time spent here will create some of your fondest memories" "To those who have returned, raise a glass to another happy year filled with knowledge, learning and above all... fun"
Patrick's eyes glinted to the table of teachers bunched behind the headmaster. He immediately saw Professor McGonagall looking impressive in her robes of navy blue. She'd welcomed the first years into the entrance hall after they'd arrived by boat. The boy had noticed that she'd smiled at him rather warmly despite her regular cold glare. Next to her sat a more stout teacher with curly grey hair, Patrick swore that there was a caterpillar tangled in her messy hat. A very short man with a dark moustache and silver spectacles sat on the other side of the tall silver encrusted chair that Patrick assumed belonged to Dumbledore himself. "That's Flitwick" Penelope smiled "he's our head of house" Beside Flitwick sat a hard faced cold man with greasy black hair and a hooked nose. Feeling rather intimidated, Patrick turned his attention once more to two female teachers sitting beside each other at the end of the table. They looked remarkably similar however while one had a tight dark bun the other had a lighter and messier one perched on the back of her head. "The Sinistra sisters" Penelope smiled again obviously paying attention to where the boys gaze had fallen "they teach astrology"
