"Put that out" hissed Liliana as Patrick sat under the largest tree in the garden with the small rolled up cigarette between his teeth "if Mum sees" "She never sees you doing it" contradicted Patrick who lightly took the bud from between his lips and breathed a swirl of greyish smoke which mixed with the powder blue sky. "Yes because I'm discreet" argued Lili "if she finds you smoking she'll link it back to me" "What about Amelia does she know?" Asked Patrick hastily.
"No of course she doesn't" scowled the sister "she's even worse then mum" In a flash Patrick stubbed the cigarette against a tree before throwing it out of sight. Liliana frowned before hearing the padding footsteps behind her. Amelias hair glistened in the summer sunlight as she approached. "Can you smell smoke?" Asked the blonde as she cast her blue tinted eyes over the green leaves of the tree above.
"I think next doors burning something" lied Liliana as Amelia sat down next to Patrick who coughed quickly hoping his sister wouldn't notice. Liliana had smoked since she was thirteen which arguably wasn't a good thing in fact it would be hard to disagree that it was doing any good at all. Liliana had been told about how smoking affects the lungs and will probably lead to some sort of cancer however she never listened.
Despite her arrogant and rather stupid self, Liliana didn't want her brother to follow in her footsteps. He may be the same age as her but she always hoped to look out for him. Patrick hadn't smoked before the summer holidays, he'd been trying to be more edgy as according to him he 'no longer cared what people think'. However although he said that everyone knew that if his mother or eldest sister or even his best friend Anna found out he'd be ashamed and regretful.
Patrick wasn't cut out to be rebellious. He had tried his best in an attempt to fly off the handle. Most people don't choose this form of life and Amelia and Liliana had no understanding over why Patrick was doing it at all. His feelings weren't easily explained but sometimes he just got the burning passion to push everyone around him away. To be alone and free.
Of course if this actually happened to the tall blonde all hell would break loose. How would be cope without his family who he loved so dearly and his friend who had supported him even through his mistakes. Nevertheless ever since Patrick had lost Leo and Annabelle, he hadn't quite been the same. Questions and regrets were filling his mind as he went about the mostly boring days he spent at home.
The usual appreciation he felt when seeing his mother and sisters was quickly overshadowed by the fear and resentment he felt towards school. Harriet had received a letter about the fight which had ensnared between Patrick and Henry, the blonde had expected her to feel angry or even ashamed. Instead she felt sympathetic, she'd dealt with homophobia before and felt proud that her son had been able to stand against him.
