Finding Something Sharp

We entered the conference room and Sam immediately came up to me and put his arm around me. He looked concerned.
"What's going on?" I said a bit worried
"Fury called. . ." Steve started "hydras trying to make their way back up with the few people they have left."
"So? We can just take care of them" it seemed rather simple to me.
"Y/n, they found Borris Bates" Sam said in a sad tone.
"What?!" My heart dropped
"Who is Borris Bates?" Bucky asked
"He's the . . ." I struggled for words
"He's the one that did the tests on y/n" Sam helped me out "we thought he was dead"
"How could he. . . Where is he?"  I spoke
Sam tightened his grip on me
"He's is in a small town in Virginia, trying to lay low, but he has a lab."
The thoughts raced through my head. The man that put me through so much pain and suffering was alive and well. I was at peace with the thought he was gone, and that he couldn't hurt me anymore. His face filled my mind, causing me to tear up a little.
"So let's get him." I said assertively trying to stay tough
"Y/n take a breather while we figure things out." Steve was trying to be sympathetic, "we will let you know when we have a plan set, I know this could be a lot."
"No! I'm a part of the team I want to help!"
"We know I just thought-"
"I'm staying."
The room was silent for a second
"Okay, what do we know about him?"
Sam grabbed my hand and Natasha started the report.
"Born in New Jersey, Borris Bates graduated top of his class from Harvard. He got his doctorate but after graduation he went off the map, no one knew where he went or where he was working until. . . His hydra testing base was previously found." She spoke confidently.
A picture of Borris appeared, but he looked young.
"This is an old photo, but he looks quite similar. Only difference, he's missing an eye."
"Thanks to me" I said quietly
"What?" Bucky looked at me
"When they had me I ugh- found something sharp. So when he started testing on me I swung at him and cut his eye." I smirked at the thought of hurting Borris, that's the least he deserved after what he did to me. Bucky looked at me with a proud grin.
"Any weaknesses we should know y/n?" Steve asked
"Besides his eye sight? He's not strong. He always had two huge bodyguards around him because he couldn't fight."
"Good." Steve's face had no emotion " there are three other Hydra survivors that we need to take down on top of Borris. I will have Friday come up with the best route to take them down. We will meet in the morning to discuss what's next."
"You got it," Sam said as we walked out of the room hand in hand.
Sam walked me to my room and sat me on the bed.
"You ok?" He said sweetly
"I'm fine." I said staying strong
"You don't have to be strong around me, I'm here for you."  His voice sounded so caring
I fell backwards into my bed
"I was happy knowing he was gone and couldn't hurt me anymore."
He laid back with me and we faced each other.
"He can't hurt you. You have grown so strong y/n!"
"Not when it comes to him," I started to tear "he makes me feel so weak"
"You are the strongest women I know, think of all you've overcome! Y/n your incredible!" He wiped a tear off my cheek
"When I think of him I go right back to being on that table with his stupid face near mine, telling me im weak and the only way people will love me is if I change the world with his science" I took a deep breath "he just made me feel so small"
He grabbed my hand
"You know I love you right?"
"Of course"
"Then you know I will be by your side through everything. I will be there when you are sick, and when your mad, and I will be there when you take Borris down yourself."
I leaned over to hug him, my head on his chest.
"Your the most amazing friend Sam."
"And don't you forget it!"
I laughed. We laid there for a bit just enjoying each other's company. I eventually fell asleep leaning on him.
