"Ah, now let's settle this misunderstanding between us, shall we, love?" Fiat crooned to Gulf, who glowered defiantly, though his lips were sealed.
"Hmm-hmm-hmm," Gulf managed through the tape, his eyes blazing.
"No love, not yet. I'll remove that when I feel like it, but for now, you need to stay calm, or else I might get rather impatient," Fiat chuckled smugly, his fingers caressing Gulf's hair, igniting a low, primal growl of fury from Tharn that echoed like thunder in the dark.
"Anyway, Mew, would you like to hear a story?" Fiat taunted, venom lacing his words as he glared at Mew.
"Do I have a choice?" Mew shot back, a flicker of sass igniting hope within him, which drew an amused smirk from the gagged Gulf.
"Well, you don't," Fiat replied, annoyance seeping into his tone.
"Okay, storytime. Gulf, my love. Do you remember our first encounter at our old high school? It was the moment that sparked my insatiable interest in you. Like a comet crashing into my soul," Fiat reminisced, his voice winding around the dread.
"In those days, I found you oddly annoying, quite peculiar really... but as I got to know you, as you became mine—the mate I've vowed to cherish—I realised your essence is woven into my being. Your sass ignited fiercely when you protected those you care about. I promised myself then, no matter the cost, I would love you fiercely, never share you with anyone else," Fiat breathed, his hand tenderly brushing through Gulf's hair, a violation that made Tharn's rage pulse relentlessly within him.
"Ah-ah, don't make a sound, Mew. Don't you dare try to rouse my mate's attention," Alpha Fiat hissed, each word dripping with venom as if he were spitting poison. His gaze scorched Mew with unbridled hatred. "It's high time you reckon with the havoc you've wreaked upon him for the past twenty-five years—trapping him in your web, compelling him to believe you're his destined mate, and burdening him with those three grotesque abominations you dare call children."
"Now, let's cast aside the clown lingering in the room, shall we, love?" he continued, pivoting his attention to Gulf, who responded with a glare that radiated annoyance and a simmering desire to unleash havoc upon Alpha Fiat. Yet, Gulf's visage swiftly transformed into one of icy neutrality.
"Darling, can you believe it's been a quarter of a century since I laid eyes on you? My, my, you're positively radiant! The years have treated you well, exuding a glow that would make the sun envious. Pregnancy suits you, love. If I had known this, I would have gladly filled you with my essence from the get-go, ensuring this pathetic excuse of a mate wouldn't have dared disrupt your peace, much less allow you to bear his monstrosities. I do apologise, Gulf, for taking so long to come to your rescue," Alpha Fiat remarked, casting a glance at his own hands, as if contemplating the worth of his own presence.
"You vile wretch! You're the true abomination, not my beloved children or mate. It is you who ought to vanish from this earth!" Gulf seethed internally, rolling his eyes at Alpha Fiat, an act that did not escape his mate's notice. Mew's lips curled into a subtle smirk, a testament to Gulf's defiance.
Mew could sense Gulf's frustration, even through the ropes binding him, and he could feel his mate cursing in the depths of his mind; if thoughts could kill, Alpha Fiat would have long since perished.
'Oh, nothing can quell your sass, can it, mate? Not even bindings or tape to silence you. I can feel the daggers of your hatred piercing the air,' Mew quipped quietly to himself, allowing his tension to thaw slightly.
'Perhaps we should turn the tables and bind him, not us. Why on earth did we agree to be tied to the bed while he roams free? Surely, we ought to return the favour for all the torment he's inflicted upon us,' Mew mused, the wicked thought of placing Alpha Fiat in chains pulling a cheeky smirk from him, which did not escape the attentive eyes of both Alpha Fiat and Gulf.
"Have you lost your mind? Stop smirking like a lunatic!" Alpha Fiat retorted, his gaze drenched in disgust as he assessed Mew with contempt.
"For twenty-five years, love, I've bided my time, pretending to be the unsuspecting cog in your tragic tale, extracting secrets from your omega pack member. I must confess, I'm awash in disappointment. How is it that you look so gloriously in love with him whilst your true mate languishes in suffering?" Alpha Fiat lamented, sorrow dripping from his every word.
"But I understand—I know he's manipulated you, made you believe that I'm him and he's me. I can hardly believe you'd choose him over me if you knew the depths of his true nature," he continued, enveloped in delusions of a love that only festered.
"Oh, that omega of yours—she's your mate, isn't she?" Mew pierced through the tension, breaking his silence and capturing Gulf's full attention.
"She is," Alpha Fiat answered, a sardonic note creeping into his voice. "She claims I'm her mate, but I'd never yield our love, Gulf. I've always known, always defended our bond, just as I stood firm against my parents when I chose you, my heart's desire."
"Ah, the very parents who serve as the harbingers of homophobia? Yes, love, they've opposed our union. Yet, you captivated me from the moment you stepped into my tainted existence, painting it in brilliant hues. You rescued me from my toxic past," he professed, gripping Gulf's hand, an act that only drew forth another low growl from Tharn.
"But you realise you're morphing into them, don't you? Kidnapping Gulf, slaying those who were loyal to you, spiralling further into madness. Alpha Fiat, this is not love—it's sheer obsession!" Mew's voice dripped with calmness as if addressing a child—an emotionally unstable child trapped in an adult's guise.
"Shut up!" Alpha Fiat's roar reverberated through the dimly lit chamber, laden with echoes of fury.
"You know nothing, Alpha Mew, nothing!" he spat, venom coursing through his gaze, only to be shifted when Gulf grasped his arm, desperation etched across his face.
"Yes, love?" Alpha Fiat asked, affection tainting his tone as he sought Gulf's approval, only to be met with a resolute shake of denial.
"Let's cast him aside and return to our prior conversation. Ah, after your fake mate's invasion drove me from my own home, I've lay low, veiled in shadows, as he placed a bounty on my head. Fortuitously, no one cared enough to hunt me down, for I've mastered the art of blending into the crowd, becoming a ghost among the living. I waited patiently to gather my courage, to calm the very people around you before reclaiming what's rightfully mine," Alpha Fiat grinned a sickly grin that twisted like a maniac's, eyes glinting with malevolent glee as they fell upon Gulf.
Gulf inwardly groaned at the convoluted fate that had entwined him with such madness, bitter self-pity churning within him as he lamented the chaos brought into their lives by Alpha Fiat's unstable machinations.
