Chapter - 14 Who broke whose trust?

Siddharth's POV: It was a bright, warm thursday noon. But my mood? Not so bright. I was constantly being ignored by Jaan and Anushka. What did I even do? I went to pick Anushka up from the dorm in the morning and she said she wanted to go alone. Um okay, well that wasn't so bad. Next, I saw Jaan walking out of the canteen with Chris by her side. Oh and, her plaster wasn't there anymore and she seemed to be absolutely fine. She was smiling wide at something that Chris had just said. I walked up to them and greeted them both. Jaan literally smiled at me and left the place. Are you kidding me? And just a few minutes ago, Anushka walked past me without saying anything at all. Okay, you know what? Enough is enough. I need to confront Anushka and find out what this chaos is about. 

Sidd: Anushka kya hua?

Anushka(shrugs): Kuch nahin

Sidd: Look I have been watching how you both have been ignoring me from the morning, alright? I need to know what this is about

Anushka(smiles): I don't think we are the ones ignoring you

Sidd: What's that supposed to mean?

Anushka(turns to leave): Nothing

Siddharth caught her by her wrist and pulled her back to her previous position.

Sidd: You cannot just play with my emotions like this, alright?

Anushka(loosens his grip from her wrist): You wanna talk about emotions? Do you even realise what you did?

Sidd: That's exactly what I'm asking you. What the heck did I do?

Anushka: You know Siddharth, this is the hardest part. You hurt us without even realising it. How convenient!

Sidd(yells): Will you just tell me already what happened?

Anushka: Why should I tell you? Your emotions were involved so why can't you just figure it out yourself.

Sidd: Anushka yaar, this is not some kind of game we are playing. This is serious. I need to know what's happened. I can't afford to lose you both

Anushka(smiles weakly): I wish you would have thought of that before. Do you even remember what happened on Tuesday?

Sidd: We went walking? You yelled at Riyaz? You talked to me? You apologised to him?

Anushka(smirks): You literally told Jaanu that you wanted to take me and her to the dance

Sidd: And?

Anushka(shouts): And? Seriously? She said yes to go with you despite having a broken leg just because of what you said. And now you've forgotten about everything and told Reem that you would go to the dance with her?!

Sidd: Wait, is that what this is about? Pagal ho kya tum log?

Anushka(fighting back her tears): Look, my adrenaline is super high right now. And I am not ready to argue with a person who has no value for us. You didn't even tell us that you couldn't go with us becuz you were going with someone else. And that hurt, okay? Thanks a lot for being a great friend!

Sidd: Why are you becoming so hyper?! Did Jaan not read the text that I sent? 

Anushka(shrugs): What text?

Sidd(with a painful look on his face): Great, you don't check my text and blame me for everything. 

He throws his hands up in the air and walks out leaving Anushka deep in thoughts.

Jannat's POV: My heart hurts. I can't believe I ignored him. Right off the bat. I would definitely have talked to him, but I couldn't get myself to. You know how sometimes you lose your trust on some people and can't even look at them anymore once you see them? Sigh. Why would he do this? He is not the person I know. I blinked back my tears and noticed Anushka coming towards me. She looked worried. We were on a pathway in the middle of the campus.

Anushka: Jaan, I just talked to Siddharth

Jannat: Does he remember about the plan now-

Anushka(cuts her off): Listen, he asked me if you checked his text

Jannat: What text?

Anushka: You better check your phone hun. This doesn't seem right to me.

I unlocked my phone and opened up messages but there were none from Siddharth. Anushka then asked me to check Whatsapp. Shoot! I rarely check Whatsapp. Um, oh damn, there are texts from Siddharth. Anushka peeped in over my shoulder to see what was visible on the screen.

Hey Jaan, Reem just asked me to go to the dance with her. But since I already told you guys I would take you with me, I was about to say No to her. But something stopped me. And I obviously wouldn't bail on you guys so I told her that if she wanted to go with me, she had to go with all 3 of us. 

Anushka: What the-

I kept staring at the screen. My whole world made sense again. Up was up, down was down, and my Siddharth was same as ever. Remember when I said my heart hurt? It hurt harder now. I can't believe I didn't trust him. This is prolly the dumbest mistake I've ever made. I looked at Anushka blankly and she patted my back.

Anushka: He's our Siddharth, we should never have doubted him in the first place. But hey, its not your fault. Don't worry. Let's go find him and tell him everything.

Saying that, she ran from there in a hurry to find him. I couldn't move. How could I ever think that the guy I trust the most would do something like this to me? Damn it. 

Anushka's POV: I found Siddharth sitting on one of the benches in the park. It was the same bench where I got my heart broken when he told me about Riyaz's feelings for Zahira. I walked up to him and hugged him from behind. He looked at me and gave me a "what's wrong with you" look. I came in front of him and kneeled down on the grass. 

Anushka: I'm so sorry. We should have never thought that you would do something like this. So Jaan didn't really see your text so we kinda assumed that you forgot all about us becuz Reem asked you. Its our fault, and we feel super bad-

Sidd(smiles and takes her hands in his): It's okay luv. It hurt that you guys didn't trust me enough but I know you both. I knew you would never do something like this on purpose. 

Anushka: I hope we had thought that about you before making shit up in our heads.

Sidd: Hey, its totally fine

Anushka: I'm still super sorry. I hope you can forgive me. I love you

Sidd(smiles bright): Too 

Jannat came up and saw us together. She walked up to the bench and looked too shocked and embarrassed to speak anything.

Jannat: Siddharth.....
