Chapter - 43 Goodbye

Jannat's POV: I threw my hat high up in the air with all due love for everything that I had learnt in this place. Convocation ceremony. Siddharth was standing in front of me and I watched him glow different when his hat was up and above. His smile as always, had the power to light me up like anything. Anushka hugged me after her turn and we were jumping happily. How I'm gonna miss these two bundles of boy, only I would know. We got our degree. We did it. We somehow survived through 5 years of med school. Now the only thing that troubled me was letting Siddharth know that we would be parting ways. And the fact that I was in love with him. Totally, completely in love. 

Anushka's POV: You should have seen me and Siddharth on the stage behaving like maniacs just becuz we passed. Riyaz even came over to congratulate me personally. Well, I would miss this place. And its definitely not a lie. After the ceremony was over, I walked to Jannat's room to see her already standing on the doorway. She looked anxious but at the same time, content. She waved at me as soon as she saw me.

Jannat: Hi

Anushka: So, where are you going miss?

Jannat: I'm gonna go tell Siddharth that we are going to different places

Anushka(hopefully): Aaaaaaaand?

Jannat(sighs): That I've feelings for him 

Anushka: YES! Go go go 

Jannat: Yaar, I feel very anxious

Anushka: I know you do, but trust me, it feels much better when you let it all out

Jannat: Right. You know what? Maybe I'll go after a while

Anushka: Jaanu ya, quit stalling

Jannat: Alright fine. Wish me luck!

Anushka: I'm sorry but in my mind, y'all are already married. So it's not gonna help. But for you, good luck hun. Stay strong and remember, you're amazing

She smiled at me before pulling my cheeks. And then she left. I decided to go with her since I had to go to the library. I had my finals starting the next day. She had no idea where Siddharth was, so she decided to look for him. And I began making my way to the library. I spotted Siddharth with Avneet on the way. And that very moment, I turned around to go get Jaanu. But something stopped me. Avneet asked him if he would go out with her, and he said sure. Okay, somebody please get me a broom. I was just standing there speechless. I wanted to go trash talk him in the face but I couldn't. That's when I saw Jannat walking towards me nervously. She saw me there and looked surprised. Then she saw Siddharth standing a little away from me. She began walking towards me. I stopped her with a heavy heart, held her hand and we both retraced our steps back. 

Jannat's POV: Um, why was Jaanu acting so sus? She made me walk all the way back from where we started and when I asked her what was wrong, she didn't speak. 

Anushka: I- I need to tell you something

Jannat: You could have told me stuff there itself bro 

Anushka: No, this is serious

Jannat: Okay, I'm listening

Anushka: Look, this is real hard for me to say, but I want you to know that I love you very much and I'm doing this becuz I care for you

Jannat: Okay-

Anushka: Avneet just asked Siddharth out and he said yes

Did you hear that? Oh, that was just my heart breaking into pieces. It took me minutes to process what Anushka had just said to me. Was loving someone a crime? Maybe. You know what hurt the most? The fact that this girl literally asked him out minutes before I wanted to. I lost my chance.
