Chapter - 2 Devil within the angel

Siddharth's POV: It was the first day of the second semester in college. I was obviously not new to this place which had practically become my second home. But someone else was. I had gone to the entrance to search for my guy friends as they were nowhere to be seen inside. That's when I saw a random dude irritating a girl. The girl seemed pretty new to me. Oh hey, she was new! Oh wait is that Rohan? Why is this guy always so 'all up in your face'? He had a wry smile on his face as he stood in front of the girl. The girl gave him a 'get out of this place you idiot' kinda look. I went in to stop him from overdoing things. He was obviously flirting with her(in the most pathetic way). I told him to get lost, and he did so accordingly after giving me a smirk of course. Then I turned to face the girl. Whoa, she looked beautiful. She had curly warm brown coloured hair, which dropped down to a considerable length. She looked like such a diva, I mean, who would wear such fancy clothes on the first day of college? Anyway, she looked cute when she smiled to thank me. I wanted to warn her that guys were gonna dig her but I kept my mouth shut. 

So, I basically decided to help her out and told her about the college and everything. She seemed rude to me when she said I want you to remove your hand. I was just being friendly okay. But her reaction was considerable after the impression Rohan must have left on her. Her name was Avneet apparently. I told her about myself and took her to the front office to finish off all her formalities. Once we were done, we exited the office to find...

Girl: Dude, what the heck are you doing here? And where is Jaanu? And who is this? I've been looking for you like legit everywhere. You are supposed to answer your phone once in a while, fool! 

Avneet stares at her dumbstruck while Siddharth signals the girl to breathe. 

Sidd: Anushka, luv, can you PLEASE breathe? You are scaring the shit outta this girl. 

Anushka(scoffs): I am listening so you better start talking. 

Sidd: Anyway, Avneet meet Anushka. And Anushka, meet Avneet. Avneet is new here so I am kinda helping her. And about Jaan, I don't know where she is. I'm pretty sure she is in the dorm. Dude you are two rooms away from her place you could have checked with her once. 

Anushka(after greeting Avneet): Excuse me? We just left our class together, Jaanu doesn't have a morning class today. But she has a class starting in about 15 minutes, so I thought she would be with you. The dorms are super far away, I don't wanna walk that far. And FYI, I wouldn't be irritating if you had left the class with me! You literally ditched me and ran ahead idiot. 

Sidd: Alright, alright, I'll call her wait.

While all this is happening, Avneet is totally clueless. Anushka moves towards her and introduces herself in a cheerful manner and Avneet soon feels comfortable. Siddharth, on the other hand, dials Jannat. 

Siddharth joins the duo after making a quick call. He looks worried, as he says, "She said she won't be attending any classes today. She is sick. Has fever it seems."

Anushka: Oops. Um, I don't have another class for about 45 minutes from now. Do you? 

Siddharth nods in a NO, to which Anushka replies, "Then come, let's go meet her and see if she's fine. Oh hey Avneet you can join us, we will help you with finding your room in the hostel."

Avneet: Thanks, guys! Hey, but I need to meet the principal real quick cuz I need to hand in my leave letter. So can you guys take me there first?

Anushka: Sure!

They all head to the principal's office where Avneet finishes off all the work, and grabs her schedule list, while the other two wait outside. After that, they go to the stationary to get her all the books. Siddharth carries two whole bags of books for her while Avneet carries the other one. Yes, he is a gentleman xd. 

Anushka(while looking at Avneet's detailed form): Dude, you are in room 112?! That's my room! Omg, this is gonna be so great! We are roommates from now on!

Avneet: Wow! I'm looking forward to staying with ya, roomie!

Siddharth makes a face, voicing EW. 

Anushka(ignoring Sidd): And the best part? Jaanu lives in 116! We can be great friends if you ask me. 

Avneet: I have really been looking forward to meeting her after the amazing description given by Mr. Siddharth over here. 

Anushka: Oh, so he already told her about you, huh? Well, I can predict that he obviously didn't say anything about me. 

Sidd: You wanna listen to what I wanna say about you? Fine then. I was THE best friend of Jaan. Till the first day of college of course. I was hoping to be on the same terms with her for the rest of our college years, but NO. This girl over here HAD to steal my Jaan away from me. She literally made Jaan her "Jaanu" just to make me mad becuz I hated it when Jaan ditched me for this "girl best friend" tag. 

Anushka(in disgust): Yeah, likewise, I hate you too! Anyways, did you notice how conveniently he just skipped the part where we first met? I was in the campus, going over my schedule, as I braced myself for the first day of college. Do you know what he did? He was literally staring at me from a distance like he was a 5 year old kid who had just tasted chocolate!! So you can imagine his 'in love' look right? He marched up to me still lost in his own world while I was wondering what is wrong with this dude. And that's when I noticed there was a girl beside him. She came up to me and said, "Hi! Are you new here? Ignore this guy, he's lost it. Come on, let's go!" That was how I met Jaanu. She saved me from this creep and I am so grateful to her for that.

When Anushka finished her side of the story, Avneet burst out into laughter and Siddharth was glaring at Anushka like he was gonna kill her then and there. 

Sidd: Yeah, well forgive me for thinking that she was an actual angel. But now I know that there's a devil behind that face. Anyway, let me complete my story Anushka, shut up! Right, so yeah Anushka stole her from me, and boy, was I mad? But you know, somehow, I realised that Jannat also needed a girl to be with her cuz she can't just go to a guy for everything. So I let it go. And it turned out that Anushka was an actual angel. She was super sweet to me, whenever I was alone with her, cuz usually we hung out with Jaan as well. Anushka seemed like a carbon copy of Jaan to me so we got along super soon. But the thing is, we still fight like little kids. We fight and annoy each other a lot yes but we love each other too much to let arguments ever come in the way. 

Avneet smiled at that and Anushka wiped away her fake tears and said, "I'm so flattered luv." She ran up to Siddharth and hugged him in a wholesome way while he jerked out saying, "Dude, I thought I made it pretty clear. No physical contact please!" 

Anushka: Whatever jerk face. Hey Avneet look we have come to the girls hostel come on let's go!
