Chapter - 16 The basketball court

Siddharth's POV: A warm Thursday evening. I looked around me. The court was practically empty. What court? The basketball court. But yeah, I mean, these are the hours when everybody usually just crowds around the canteen area. I was sitting on one of the side benches, as I tied my shoe laces. I looked up from my shoes to see a girl. Jaan. She was dribbling the ball in such a way that would make her seem like an innocent girl who's just picked up the basketball in the first go. Reality? She was a pro. She made no efforts to tuck all the hair strands that were falling over her face, behind her ear. She had a half sleeve black top on and her jacket from before was tied tightly around her waist. She bounced around the court along with the ball. She had obviously missed playing her favourite game when she wasn't well. 

Jannat: Bro, you coming or not?

Sidd: Arrey aa raha hoon

I leapt up from the bench with a lot of positive energy radiating from within. I went forward to snuggle the ball away from her. But she pranced about like a lioness who could have the prey only to herself. Not complaining though. We had been playing for about 20 minutes with Jaan on the lead. We didn't even notice that somebody else was there, watching us silently.

Avneet's POV: Finally, all the classes were over. Yay, now I can go to the court! I personally love playing basketball like since when I was 16. You know, one could never tell I was a bit of a jock personality by looking at me. I mean, I always dress up so fancy. Anyways, I walked to the court passing the huge swimming pool and the football court. As I pushed open the heavy wooden door and walked in, I saw Siddharth and Jannat already playing there. Oh damn, Siddharth looked so hot. He was wearing a full hand shirt whose sleeves were pulled up till his elbows and knee length shorts. His hair was completely messy and sweat dripped from every corner of his forehead making him look all the more hot. As I dropped my sports bag on one of the side benches I turned my attention to them. I saw Jannat next. She looked pretty cool with her jacket tugging around her waist. The first thought that occurred to me when I saw them together in the court was that they were ridiculously close to each other. I mean, Siddharth was trying so hard to take that ball away from her but she didn't let go. She had a "try all you want sucker" kinda attitude. I shouted

Avneet: Hi guys! Can I join you?

Jannat(stops dribbling the ball to look up at the third person in the court): Oh, hey, Avneet. Yeah, sure.

Sidd: You guys play, I'll be right with you. 

He walked up to his side bench and picked up his water sipper and poured water all over his face. He also drank some of course. Then he turned to look at Avneet get a start with the ball in her hands. 

Jannat: Oh, my phone's buzzing, I'll be right back

She walks up beside Siddharth.

Jannat(looking at the floor): Kar diya na pura court gila

Sidd: Bro I literally have sweat dripping from everywhere. 

Jannat: That's why people take baths after a good game, you idiot

He started to say something but Jannat walked away to pick up her call but retraced her steps back to Siddharth and put the phone on speaker. Siddharth peeped in to see that it was Anushka who had called.

Anushka: Siddharth yaar kabhi toh phone utha liya kar

Sidd: Kya hua

Anushka: I wanted your notes man

Sidd: Yeah but I don't write notes, and you know that very well?

Anushka: Yes dummy but I wrote my notes in your notebook. I want that notebook.

Sidd: Ohh, I think its there in my room. You can go check. 

Anushka: Alright, thanks

Jannat cut the call and sat down on the bench to take a break. Siddharth went forward to play with Avneet for a while. 

Jannat's POV: I was scrolling through Instagram but then I got bored. So I put my phone down. And observed Siddharth and Avneet fight for the ball. Oh yay Siddharth won the point! I mean, no offence to her, she's a pretty good player but obviously, Sidd's been learning from me.
