Chapter - 26 This is the life

Jannat's POV: I legit went blank after singing the first few lines. I didn't know what to do. All I could see was a pitch black scenario in front of me. I was in a trance. But then, I heard a familiar voice from the audience shout,

"This is the life, hold on tight"

I turned to look at Siddharth signalling me to keep going without a stop. I was too tired and embarrassed to think anything so after I heard him sing that, I slowly came back to my senses and continued with the song.

I'm still getting it right

I managed to get back to my form and finish the song somehow just by staring at Siddharth the whole time. He was smiling at me and I could definitely see that he was proud of me for finally "conquering" my stage fright. I thought I was gonna get kicked out. But I didn't. I looked at the judges before me. One of the girls was smiling at me, one of them seemed least interested and was scrolling through her phone, one of them had no expressions and the guy looked at me expectantly. He spoke up soon enough after talking and discussing with the other three.

Guy: You have a great voice, you sing well. Imma enter you in the comp but remember one thing. If you forget the lyrics to your song, you're gonna make a fool outta yourself and if you sing as amazingly as you sang in the last few moments, you will be appreciated by everyone. So good luck!

I walked out of the stage. I was blank. I couldn't process half of what just happened. All I knew was that I wanted to run away from there as soon as I could. I saw Anushka run up to me and I hugged her just the next moment. She said that I was amazing. I knew that becuz that was in my subconscious. My self consciousness was literally focused on the other person visible in plain sight. Siddharth. He was standing there smiling at me. After I finished hugging Anushka, I ran to Siddharth and practically flew into his arms. He caressed my hair in the most gentle way possible. I whispered thank you in his ear during the hug. I just knew he was smiling. He broke the hug soon after and looked at me with eyes lit up with the brightest light. 

Sidd: You did it! I'm so proud of you

Jannat: I made a fool out of myself

Sidd: No you didn't. You are in the competition wohooo

Jannat: All thanks to you

Sidd: Always luv

I smiled at him gratefully and the three of us walked out of the auditorium to reach the canteen area. Siddharth left to buy a drink for all three of us and Anushka wanted to go the restroom. I was sitting on one of the high pavements when I spotted the creepy dude from before. He was literally staring at me and smiling like a dork. What a freaking creep ugh. He started walking towards me after a while and said "you are super pretty" and then he ran away. What the heck dude? 

Sidd's POV: I was so happy that she finally did it. I returned back to where Jaan was sitting to find a guy saying "you are super pretty" to her and then he ran away. Um, what the heck? I went to Jaan and made up an excuse that I had to be somewhere real quick. I left the place and followed that guy to reach the football court. I picked up a long stick from the outside of the court and entered the court carrying the stick on my shoulder. The guy saw me and looked surprised. And scared too of course. 

Sidd: Hi bro. Tumhe yeh follow karne ka aur logon ko jaake "aap bohoth sundar hain" bolne ka bohoth shauq haina? Waise, ek baat yaad rakhna. Agar aage se tum mujhe us ladki ke aaju baaju bhi dikhe toh yeh danda aur tumhara muh. Soch lena. Thike?

He nodded his head like crazy. Huh what a scaredy cat. I turned away to leave when I saw Jaan staring at me with a disappointed look on her face. Oh man, I'm so dead.
