Chapter - 31 Don't let go

Siddharth's POV: Saturday evening. 7 pm. I can't believe its been a week since I last talked, I mean, shouted at Anushka. This hurts. Anyways, I was standing outside the girls' dorm as I dialed Jaan's number and called her. She told me that she would be coming out soon. We had planned a study session in the library. She came out after 5 minutes and grabbed my arm before dragging me to her room. I was confused.

Sidd: Library jaana hai idiot

Jannat: Yeah yeah I need help, follow me

I trailed alongside her and we reached her room. She opened the door and I saw Anushka inside. How did I not see this coming? Dang it! Jaan pushed me inside and locked the door. 

Sidd(whispers to Jannat): Are you serious right now? Let me out!

Jannat: No, you'll sort it out right here and right now. 

And then she started speaking in a loud voice.

Jannat: Oh my goodness, Anushka what happened? I've never seen you so upset

Anushka: I...I just had a break up

Jannat(looking at Sidd with wide eyes): AWWW

Anushka: And you're right, I've never been so upset

Jannat: AWWW

I saw tears in Anushka's eyes. Looked real. So real that maybe it wasn't a stupid act. 

Jannat(pushing Sidd towards Anushka): Looks like somebody needs a hug right now

I stepped back on first instinct and headed towards the door. 

Sidd: I'm sorry, I can't do this 

Anushka(angrily): Forget it, you're impossible. I broke up with the person whom I've been crushing on for so long just to get you back and this is what I get. Thanks a lot

I stopped in my tracks. Whoa, back up, she broke up with Riyaz?!

Sidd(to Jannat): She what?!

And then Jannat turned my face towards Anushka and said, "ask her, not me"

Sidd(to Anushka): You what?!

Anushka(nods): Riyaz didn't play with my feelings at all. He genuinely had feelings for me. I was the one who broke his heart

Sidd: Why would you do that?

Anushka: Oh, i dont know, a certain someone stopped talking to me cuz they feared that my feelings will be hurt and cuz I didn't tell them anything. And now guess what? I hurt someone else's feelings and you're the first person to know

Sidd(sarcastically): Wow, thanks a lot

Anushka: Okay, now what's the problem? I'm lost

Sidd: The problem is- how can I walk away from someone who would do something like that just to get me back?

Anushka(smiles): So I guess you are not?

Sidd(nods his head in a no and hugs her soulfully): I'm sorry about everything

Jannat's POV: This took a lot of effort from me and Anushka both and I'm so glad they're back to normal. I started to back out of the door to give them a little space. But he wouldn't let me. He would never let me. Siddharth grabbed my hand and pulled me back in to join the hug. He never lets me feel alone. I hugged them both with all my heart. 

Sidd(breaking the hug): Is Riyaz okay?

Anushka: Yeah, we thought it would be best if we stayed best friends. The dating thing didn't really work out. I mean yes I have feelings for him, but everyone always comes in second to my baby

Sidd: And "your baby" won't let you go to another man that easily. JAAN DARE YOU EVER DO THIS TO ME

Jannat(laughs): don't worry, I'm not going anywhere 

Siddharth's POV: So, Anushka is one of the most amazing people I have ever met. I can't believe she would do this for me. Like we fought all the time but even then, at the end of the day, I know  I can always count on her. This past week was freakishly weird. I spent all my time with Jaan and it took me back to the days when we used to play all the time in the corridor back home. We were pretty much inseparable. 

Anushka decided to take leave since she had her dance rehearsals. She bid goodbye to both of us and left. Jannat started gathering her books and started walking towards the door too. Right, we had to go to the library. 

Jannat's POV: My hand. It was covered in his hand again. That warmth is so wholesome. I looked back to see him smiling at me gratefully. I walked back to him.

Sidd(squeezing her hand): Thank you. Once again. For everything. 

Jannat(smiles): Always 

We left the room to head to the library. Hand in hand. I didn't wanna let go. And it seemed like he didn't either.
