Chapter -5 The draft text

Jannat: Waise Siddharth, I was going to text you. Its not like I didn't need your help. 

Just then, Avneet and Anushka barge into the room, carrying food plates for all of them.

Sidd(looking at Anushka): Bro I said I wasn't gonna eat

Anushka(smiling): Yeah, that was until I decided that you have to eat

Anushka then hands Jannat her food while sitting on the other bed along with Avneet. 

Sidd(turning back to Jannat): Toh text kiya kyun nahin tune? 

Jannat: Phone check kar

Siddharth goes through his pocket to fish his phone out when Jannat hits him on the arm,

Jannat: Apna nahin, mera idiot!

Siddharth leans to pick up her phone from her desk and unlocked it like it was nothing new to him and Avneet sat there thinking, "That much of trust? Wow"

Siddharth sees a draft text on his number. It said, "Yaar jaldi waapis aa jaana".

Sidd(annoyed): Yaar yeh tune mujhe send kyun nahin kiya? Kar deti toh main aa jaata na

Jannat: Arrey how does it matter? Let it go and eat your food!

Siddharth shoves her hand away when she hands him a plate and of course, Jannat was prepared for this. She too shoved her crutch at him and he took up the plate within a second.

After about 10 minutes, Anushka stood up as she had to leave for her next class. Siddharth whined to go as he wanted to be there for Jaan to take care(he was still feeling very guilty). But finally Anushka dragged him along the door with Avneet in the lead who was very excited for her first class of the day. 

Jannat's POV: Bruh, obviously I didn't expect this thing to be a big matter. I was super excited for my first fracture, I mean, it seemed cool you know? Nevermind, the thing is Siddharth would never get it. He went on and on about me being careless. Like dude take a chill pill! Imagine what would happen if I died- Yes, I am an overthinker but anyway, the care he showed to me was totally genuine and it warmed my insides. This guy just knows how to make one feel better. I really wanted to call him back yesterday but I thought he wouldn't like it that I am spoiling his alone time. And maybe it is true. I still got scolded so what's the point? He needs to learn to let go. Ek toh he tells me ki I called mumma and told her everything but I didn't tell him anything. Why should he be so worried when he is not my mom?! But the weirdest part is that he will be chill with anything and everything that happens to him but when it comes to me, he can't stand it. Effect of 12 years of friendship I guess? Anushka was a sweetheart and the day we met, something just clicked between us instantly. She was practically my twin in every way. Siddharth complained loads about her stealing me away from him, but I could care less. Its not like I can always be there with him? But I'll always be there for him- atleast, I want to. Anyway, let's not jinx it. Right so apparently I would be missing classes for atleast a week now. And that hurt dude. Like I said, I enjoy studying. So I decided to make sure that I was holding a book when I was in my room resting. 

After his class ended, Siddharth came into Jannat's room to see her reading something. He came near her and snatched the book away from her as she made an irritated face. 

Jannat: What?!

Sidd: Jaan, jab pair toota hota haina, tab rest karte hain. Padh padhke strain nahin karte hain

Jannat: Abbey pair hi toh toota hai, what does that have to do with studying? Accha by the way, we need to go walking in the evening.

Sidd(chuckling): There is no way I am letting you walk like this!

Jannat: Doctor ne kaha ki I have to walk around so that I could get used to it. The sooner, the better hun. 

Sidd: Alright fine, you win.

Jannat: Don't I always?

Siddharth starts ruffling her hair again and at the same time Anushka enters.

Anushka: Jaanu yaar. Tell your Siddharth to stop ditching me after classes and running away. He needs to have the basic courtesy of waiting for me.

Siddharth rolled his eyes at her while Jannat laughed. After some time, Anushka and Siddharth ate their lunch in the canteen and got some lunch for Jannat.
