Nagising ako sa mahihinang boses na gumigising sa diwa ko. Ilang oras pa lang yata ang tulog ko eh!
Sino ba ang mga lapastangang nangahas na istorbohin ang tulog ko? Gusto ko pang matulog!
I opened my eyes and was ready to yell at the people who dared disturb my slumber but I was greeted by five nurses and three doctors. The nurses where grinning and the doctors were smiling widely.
Then I remembered, I was in the hospital with Archie. I grabbed the blanket and tried my very best to hide my face but a chuckling voice caught my five senses making me fully awake.
“Good morning, sleepy head!” masiglang bati ni Archie. I could imagine the smile plastered on his face because of the light tone coming from his voice.
Nahihiya akong bumaling sa kanya. Ang pangit ko yata kapang gising eh. Pero ‘di talaga ako sure. Kasi naman, hindi ako tumitingin sa salamin tuwing umaga. Wala naman akng pakialam, until Archie made me conscious.
“Ahmm… doon na muna ako,” I said without looking at him and managed to crawl my way to the couch. I heard the laughs coming from the medical staffs and from Archie himself.
Yawa! Nakakahiya. Lihim kong inayos ang buhok kong lampas balikat na. parang kailan lang, hanggang leeg ko pa lang ang haba nito.
I stole a glance at the people checking Archie. They were asking him questions and Archie was answering all of them. I stared at him for a moment and I could see sunshine on his face. He was very attentive today.
He was happy. Hmm. He must’ve had a good sleep. Nagulat ako at muntik nang mapatalon sa inuupuan ko nang biglang may gumalaw.
“Chantelle?”
“Morning, Ate!” Bahagyang minulat ni Chantelle ang dalawang mata at ngumiti sa akin bago uminat-inat. “What’s for breakfast? Order tayo.”
Tuluyan siyang bumangon at agad na binuksan ang cellphone. Samanatalang ako, pina-process pa rin ang pangyayari. Buti na lang at agad naman akong naka-recover sa pagkakabigla.
“Chan, may extra clothes ka? Can I borrow?” Feeling ko kasi, ang dugyot-dugyot ko na. Bakit kasi nagiging conscious ako sa pagkatao ko ngayon.
“I bought clothes for us. Go check the closet na lang, Ate. I did not bother you na last night kasi you’re in the middle of your heart to heart talk with Kuya.” Iba rin pala magising si Chantelle nagiging extra conyo. Halatang lumaki at namulat bilang isang Alta. But one thing’s for sure, she came from a humble family.
Agad naman akong nakaramdam ng pamumula sa aking pisngi dahil sa mga huling sinabi ni Chantelle.
Heart to heart. Awit!
Yes, we talked but I felt like we still have a lot to talk about. But we’ll have it one step at a time.
For now, maliligo muna ako.

Hindi ko alam, pero habang inaanalisa ang sitwasyon namin ngayon, parang nag-eenjoy si Chantelle rito sa hospital.
After our breakfast, she opened the television and watched her favorite Kdrama while enjoying the fruit that Nana brought yesterday.
Speaking of Nana, she went home to finalize something at the farm first. Archie’s parents were on their way home too.
“Baba…” mahinang tawag ni Archie pero umabot pa rin sa pandinig ko kaya napalingon ako sa direksyon niya.
“Yes… b-baba?” I greeted my teeth after bravely saying it. I felt shy using his endearment.
He grinned at me and motioned me to come near him. I moved next to him with my heart beating hard.
