It's well past midnight by the time we leave the Burrow, making it already Christmas Day.
Eager to sleep after an equally exhausting and rewarding day of fun with the young Weasleys, I tuck myself into the comfort of my own bed. But just as I feel myself finally being pulled into a much-needed sleep, the loud sound of my window being thrown open makes me jump up in surprise.
The silhouette of a tall figure comes into view and I panic, flipping my lamp on to find the sheepish face of my boyfriend looking back at me.
I throw one of my stuffies at him. "Sirius! You just about gave me a heart attack! What are you doing here?"
He chuckles and shuts the window. "I'm sorry, love. I just missed you."
I rub my sleep-deprived eyes. "It's only been twenty minutes."
"Twenty minutes too long!"
He shrugs his coat off his shoulders and kicks his boots to the side before crawling over me on the bed. He keeps his arms at either side of me and nudges his cold nose against mine, "Hiya, beautiful."
He closes the gap between us, kissing me softly. "It's late, Paddy." I mumble against his lips.
He pulls back with a pout. "Can't I stay for a bit? Just until I warm up?"
"Alright, then get in here and cuddle me."
He grins triumphantly and rolls off of me. I watch him strip down into just his blue plaid boxers and then slip under my blanket to spoon me. "Mm, you're all warm. I'm cold."
"Well you were out in the snow." I laugh, "And for some reason you've taken all your clothes off."
He just responds by hugging me tighter and nuzzling into the crook of my neck. I melt against his body, enjoying the comfort his presence brings me. It's silent until Sirius whispers, "You were so good with Charlie and Bill. Seeing you with them made me think. About us...about what you would be like with our kids."
With his arms still curved around my waist, I flip around to look him in the eyes. "Oh yeah?"
He happily nods his head. "It's only if you want them, of course, because it is your body. But I saw the way you lit up around Bill and Charlie tonight. And Merlin, you have no idea what it did to me when you read them that bedtime story. You were so adorable about it, I was having trouble breathing."
I bite my lip, grinning. "I do want kids with you someday. I wouldn't want only one though, because I'd hate for them to ever feel lonely. I think two would be good for us. Balanced. It would be me, you, and our two."
"You made a rhyme." He boops my nose making me laugh. "Two is perfect."
My gaze subconsciously drifts down to his smiling lips. He seems to notice because he leans forwards to brush our lips together. I quickly respond by circling my arms around his waist and moving to lay on top of him.
