Phenotype (from Greek pheno- 'showing', and type 'type') is the term used in genetics for the composite observable characteristics or traits of an organism. The term covers the organism's morphology or physical form and structure, its developmental processes, its biochemical and physiological properties, its behavior, and the products of behavior. An organism's phenotype results from two basic factors: the expression of an organism's genetic code, or its genotype, and the influence of environmental factors. Both factors may interact, further affecting phenotype. When two or more clearly different phenotypes exist in the same population of a species, the species is called polymorphic.

Terrence
"Well? Ano na?" Alvin asked me as he sat on the couch in front of me. "Don't tell me hindi mo pa rin binubuksan?"
I just glared at him before drinking from my shot glass.
"Tangina naman yan bro." He laughed out loud, clutching his stomach before taking his glass from the center table and chugging it down. "Dalawang linggo na yan. Aamagin na hindi mo pa binubuksan."
"Fuck you, Alvin."
"Bro, ito na yung hinihintay mo. Nandyan na sa papel na yan yung resulta bat pinapatagal mo pa? Akala ko ba gusto mong malaman kung anak mo yung bata o hindi?" His eyebrow was raised as he held his glass.
"I don't know. I'm scared."
"Duwag pucha." He chuckled. "Ewan ko sayo Terrence. Think about it. If he turns out to be your son, you'll have the chance to tie his mom to you. Kilala na kita sa tagal nating magkaibigan. I'm sure it's part of your plan to get the mom if he's yours. You're that desperate."
"Touche." I raised my glass and smirked.
"Uncle T, she's gonna clean my ears?" The little boy asked as the technician held a transparent pack that carried two long-handled swabs for the cheek swab.
"No, Dylan. She's gonna clean your mouth." I smiled at him before ruffling his hair.
"But mom brushed my teeth before she went to work. You're gonna brush my mouth again with that?" He cocked his head to the side and gave us a curious look.
The technician chuckled beside me and I just scratched my jaw. I just nodded, not knowing how to answer to the little boy's curiosity. I just can't tell him that I am going to swab his mouth to know if he is my son or not.
Anrie's mother sat beside Dylan as we talked to the child. Anrie gave me the go signal to do the DNA test but unfortunately, she was not around during the scheduled date due to a work emergency. She assured me though that her mother is aware of it so she was not surprised when I came to their house with the female technician who wore a uniform from the private genome lab.
"She will just clean the inside of your mouth, Dylan. It will just be 5 seconds and then it's done." I told him as I put him on my lap."And then after that, I will get you your favorite snack. Now.. open your mouth and sa aah."
Dylan opened his mouth and the technician swabbed his inner cheek with the cotton swabs and placing them in a tube.
"Thank you sweetie." The technician smiled at Dylan and then at me before slightly nodding her head.
I kissed the top of Dylan's head and stood up, placing Dylan beside his grandmother. "I'll be back in an hour, ok? You wait for me. Bibili ako ng snack natin tapos magdadala ako ng damit ko pambihis. We'll go for a swim in your pool."
