A computerized tomography (CT) scan combines a series of X-ray images taken from different angles around your body and uses computer processing to create cross-sectional images (slices) of the bones, blood vessels and soft tissues inside your body. CT scan images provide more-detailed information than plain X-rays do.
A CT scan has many uses, but it's particularly well-suited to quickly examine people who may have internal injuries from car accidents or other types of trauma. A CT scan can be used to visualize nearly all parts of the body and is used to diagnose disease or injury as well as to plan medical, surgical or radiation treatment.

Nakailang tawag na ako kay Anrie pero hindi siya sumasagot. She's supposed to come today as a reliever for Dr. Castro who is recovering from an emergency appendectomy pero anong oras na wala pa rin siya.
"Eric, can you try calling her again? Try mo rin sa family house niya baka andun lang. It's not like her to just go missing from work." Pati ang mga nurses na kasama dapat namin sa duty natataranta dahil hindi niya ugaling mag-absent nang walang dahilan.
"Doc, sumagot mama niya. Wala daw doon si doc." Napahilot ako sa sentido ko at nag-isip isip pa kung saan ko pwedeng hanapin si An.
The sirens blared through the emergency drop off as two ambulances approached. A pregnant lady with gashes on her face and arms who has vaginal bleeding laid on the stretcher.
"Eight and a half months pregnant, G1P0 25-year old female. Vaginal bleeding, post RTA. Fully conscious. To rule out fibula or tibia fracture, doc. Pulse 132, O2 Saturation 98%, BP 130/80, Temp 36.8, RR 24." The EMT relayed the case.
"Tinawagan niyo na pamilya niya?"
"Tinawagan na po doc."
"Maam, nasa ospital na po kayo. Kumalma po kayo at ichecheck namin kayo." I gestured for the nurses to page the on-call OB-Gyne since the patient is pregnant and bleeding.
The second ambulance opened and I was shocked to see Anrie come out of it. Nang binaba nila ang stretcher ay agad siyang bumangon mula dito at bumaba. May sugat siya sa noo at may dugo sa gilid ng labi niya.
"Maam, humiga lang po kayo." Saway ng isang EMT sa kanya.
"I am a doctor and I work here. I know how to assess myself! I'm fine!" Sakto namang dating ni Gab na siyang umasikaso sa buntis na pasyente kasama ang isang junior resident na nakaduty dito sa ER. Sinalubong ko naman si Anrie at sinimangutan.
"This time you are a patient kaya wag nang matigas ang ulo. Hihiga ka dyan sa bed 2 o bubuhatin kita at ibabagsak sa kamang yan?" I threatened her.
"You're no boss of me, Terrence. Shoo." She shooed me away at nagdirediretso siya ng lakad papunta sa station kaya hinabol ko siya at binuhat saka ibinaba sa bed 2. Galit na galit siya sa ginawa ko sa kanya at pinagmumura ako kahit pa nakikinig lahat ng mga staff na parehong nakakakilala sa aming dalawa.
"Ang tigas talaga ng ulo mo kahit kailan. Tumahimik ka diyan at humiga, tatawagan ko si Tita." I let one of the nurses take her vital signs as I checked for signs of head trauma. Sa buong limang minuto ng assessment ay puro mura at irap ang natanggap ko mula sa kanya.
"I told you I am fine! Gasgas lang to at nalamog lang ang braso ko, nothing major! Buwisit kahit kailan." Ang tigas ng ulo ng pasyente ko. Mahirap pag doktor ang pasyente, know-it-all pa! Napahilamos na lang ako sa mukha ko gamit ang palad ko.
She's so frustrating. Tinapik ni Gab ang likod ko. "Good luck on your patient." Inilipat na nila ang pasyente niyang buntis samantalang si Anrie, uncooperative.
