Hypovolemic shock is a dangerous condition that happens when you suddenly lose a lot of blood or fluids from your body. This drops your blood volume, the amount of blood circulating in your body. That’s why it’s also known as low-volume shock.

Hypovolemic shock is a life-threatening emergency. Blood helps hold your body temperature steady, forms blood clots, and moves oxygen and nutrients to all of your cells. If your blood volume gets too low, your organs won't be able to keep working.

The most common cause of hypovolemic shock is blood loss when a major blood vessel bursts or when you’re seriously injured. This is called hemorrhagic shock.

"Now walk slowly while holding on the railing. Slowly, Terrence." I held on the railings to keep myself from falling even if I have a harness around my body.

I need to walk. It was like baby steps once more.

My accident didn't destroy much of my bones but it did injure my spine and I had to undergo three surgeries to fix it. Two spinal fractures and spinal shock causing too much swelling around my spinal cord made me lose some of the functions in my lower limb temporarily.

I was lucky enough that I survived the crash. But I was even luckier that I regained full control of my lower limbs but I had to learn how to use my legs again.

I had to endure the painful therapy. I had to endure the weird sensation of having little to no control of my own lower body while having someone manipulate its movements as I laid down on bed just keep my muscles alive.

"Ok that's it. You're doing great. We will do this again tomorrow do some exercises on the stationary bicycle." He patted my shoulders and assisted me to sit back on my wheelchair.

The nurse pushed my wheelchair back to my room where my mom and dad sat waiting for me.

"How's it son?" She asked with a smile.

"I feel great, mom. These babies," I patted my thighs, "are working now." I grinned.

"You're gonna get through this. You'll be back in shape, just be a good little patient and follow your doctor's orders of course."

It was a wake up call for me.

I don't want to die with regrets. I don't want to die thinking of the what if's.

"Looking good, son." My dad smiled and patted my back.

"Thanks Dad. I just want to go back to my normal life now. I want to work. I want to walk . I don't want to just stay like this forever. There is a reason why the big guy still kept me alive." I smiled and popped a slice of apple in my mouth.
