Nekoma High, 3rd April, after classes

After the long day of school, all Hayami wanted to do was go home and sleep but of course, she couldn't. She promised the boys that she would be at their practice so she had to go. The girl turned to Kenma and noticed that he had already put all his books in the bag and took out his phone. She quickly stood up and tapped on his shoulder.

"Kuroo's coming", Kenma said before Hayami could open her mouth. She smiled and sit back on her chair, waiting for the bigger boy to come into the classroom. She started wondering about Kenma and Kuroo's friendship; they looked so different, creating a funny duo - like Laurel and Hardy - who have known each other since when they were little kids. Kuroo was the outspoken one, the arm of the couple, the one who prefer to act and then thought about it while Kenma was the opposite. He was the brain, the unstoppable mind who likes to think and think again and think one more time to be sure about the success probability. The type of person whose eyes are sharpened more than the normal one, addicted to discovering more things than an average person would. And that was fascinating to Hayami's mind: she loved to read people, their expression, how they talk, how their hands move during conversations, and how their eyes changes while they're talking. These little, uncontrolled gestures could give you some hints about someone's personality and that was amazing.

Yeah, they are definitely like that, she thought, smiling to herself. The little glance she gave to Kenma confirmed everything. He was looking at the clock, eyebrows furrowed, puffing lightly and tapping one foot on the ground, creating a nervous sound.

"Is something wrong?", Hayami decided to ask, trying to distract him from burning the clock to ashes with his eyes. Kenma didn't answer. He stood up, scratching the chair on the floor, and motioned her to follow him.

"He's late", were the only words that came out from the boy's mouth. He was pissed at Kuroo. His best friend could be a pain in the ass sometimes and today he decided to play that card. He knew Kenma didn't have a lot of friends - the only people he regularly see were his volleyball teammates - and he probably thought he would help him create some kind of relationship by leaving him and Hayami alone. Without giving him a warning or at least telling him that he wouldn't accompany them to the gym that day. Kenma was embarrassed by that situation, he didn't know how to start a conversation and he was pretty sure that Hayami was more interested in his friends than in him. He looked at her during lunch, answering the questions they made with big smiles and shiny eyes. She talked about ice skating like her whole life was created around an ice rink and every step she took was closer and closer to what she wanted to become. Her passion was visible and that resembled Kuroo's passion for volleyball, while Kenma was not like them. He didn't fully understand how could someone be so obsessed with something like a sport: it's all sweat and fatigue, how could that be pleasant?
