"Uhm, what are you doing here?"

Kenma had a disgusted expression painted on his face, while Kuroo and Hayami were grinning ear to ear, standing arm to arm in front of the setter's front door.

"Happy birthday!", they screamed, engulfing him in an unwanted hug.

Hayami wrapped her arms around his neck, and Kuroo completed everything by hugging both of them and rocking the duo back and forth.

"Jesus...", Kenma mumbled, fighting for air, his face covered with Haya's hair, their banana's perfume invading his nostrils.

Moving simultaneously, Hayami stamped a kiss on his cheek and Kuroo did the same on the top of his head, making him scrunch up his nose.

"Stop with the affection," Kenma tried to free himself, but they didn't seem to want to let him go, "you damn mussels."

"Say 'thank you guys, I love you', and we might think about letting you go, asshole", Kuroo's hand went to ruffle his hair, making the setter squint under his touch.

"No."

"You are a pain in the ass!", Hayami blew air on his bangs, "Just say it!"

"No way."

She tilted up her head, locking eyes with Kuroo, "I guess we should keep the present for ourselves then."

The captain solemnly nodded, raising his shoulders, "I guess you're right."

"Huh? What present?", since he was a kid, gifts were something he couldn't not be excited of.

Christmas, his birthdays, good grades, a winning match, his parents were the type to give a present for any occasion, either it being a little one or something bigger.

"Then, let's go. I guess", Hayami slid her hands on his shoulders, slightly pushing him backward, turning to face Kuroo, who was already offering her a hand to grab.

"C'mon, milady."

Hayami used his gentle gesture to walk down the three steps, interviewing her and Kuroo's elbows, and starting to direct their steps toward the train's station.

Kenma closed the door behind his back, strictly following them.

His brain was forcing him to speak up and ask questions about this gift, but his pride was fighting hard to avoid shaming himself like that.

Kuroo and Hayami side-eyed each other, feeling Kenma step closer and closer, both waiting for the moment he would break down.

He warned her about Kenma's love for surprises and gifts, but maybe he forgot to add how stubborn could he be too. He would've never shown how desperate he was to know what kinda of object it was.

He observed his friends, noticing they weren't transporting any spare bags despite their school and practice ones, so it should've been a little gift, something they could bring inside them.
