"Pain I don't have no reason to lie to you. " Layla told him.
"Look shawty. I don't fuck wit you like that and that's not my baby." Pain told her as he sat up from his bed.
"You don't remember it now but you will. We are happy and expecting our first baby together. It's a girl." She told him putting his hand on her stomach.
At first, he felt the need to pull away until he felt whatever was inside move.
He didn't know what it was but it felt familiar. It felt like love. Maybe their love? He thought.
He wasn't sure about Layla but he felt something when he felt the baby kick.
Pain started to wonder how much he had changed in the last year.
"Mr. Beams." The doctor knocked.
"Come in." He answered moving his hand from her stomach.
"Hey just checking to see how you were holding up today." He asked standing in the middle of the room.
"I'm good still can't remember a thing." He told him smirking.
"Yes, Well like I said it can take some time for that to happen. Now that you have a familiar face around maybe this can trigger memories." He smiled looking over to Layla.
"You are his girlfriend yes?" He asked.
"Yes. We're expecting in about 2 months." She smiled as she tried to grab Pain's hand.
He snatched it away.
"Well, congratulations. It can take some time to get re-familiar with people and things." He tried to tell her in a comforting voice.
"Okay." Pain said sounding as if he could care less.
"Do you know if this is permanent?" Layla asked with a smile.
Pain didn't like her. Whatever it was between them he felt uneasiness. He shook his head in disappointment if this was the mother of his child.
He couldn't imagine having a daughter with a woman like Layla. He remembered meeting her a few months ago. She was a party girl just someone he would fuck on when he had the time when he was in town. He knew he wouldn't wife her because Pain knew he would never fuck her raw. Or would he? He wondered.
"The damage does not appear to be permanent. It should come back gradually with time." He smiled.
"So when can I leave?" Pain asked irritated.
"Yes, when can I take him home?" Layla asked nodding.
"Well, we should get all our results back tomorrow and from there if all looks good you can leave tomorrow." He smiled at them.
"Good." Pain said as Layla nodded.
She thought it was fate that he had answered her phone call. Layla had been trying to reach him since he surprised her with that DNA test. She was pissed but in her mind, there was no other man she wanted a child with. Layla knew he would take care of her and their child because that's just the type of man he was.
He had blocked her but she changed her number and decided to give him a call. When the nurse answered she said he had been shot and needed his name. Layla knew who he was and figured maybe he needed help. Her help. After the doctor told her about his memory loss she figured they could just start over. No one came to check on him so she figured they left him for dead.
"And here is your sister in laws number. We tried to contact her again but it went to voicemail." The doctor told him before passing him the paper.
Layla snatched it and ripped it up.
