Aurora Braddock was on day three of no sleep.
It was ironic her mother named her after sleeping beauty but she rarely got any sleep. She was of course a Beauty. Aurora had thick long curly hair thst she normally kept tied back. She always thought pulling her hair back would hide her beauty but it only made her oval face more noticeable and her big brown eyes more appealing.
She stood about 5'7 with a curve frame that she normally kept wrapped in suits.
"You should get some sleep." Bennet, Aurora's partner suggested.
The last week her and her team had been closing in on a serial killer in the Midwest.
He had kidnapped his third victim and she didnt meet his criteria. It didnt make sense to Aurora but she told herself she wanted to be on the next flight out. She had to do something she thought. She didnt want to see another girl taken or another innocent life lost.
They all stood in a room with a white board, a table of maps and 7 different agents scattered about as they paced from one place to another.
"Braddock when's the last time you been home?" Captain Morgan, Auroras boss asked her.
She looked exhausted with bags under her eyes.
"Capt. I'm fine." She said as she looked at her.
She always admired Auroras passion but even she knew she needed a break.
"You've been on this case for nearly 72 hours and from the looks of it you haven't been home." She looked her over.
"Showerin at the gym again?" She sighed looking at her.
"Go head. Ill see you 1100 tomorrow." Morgan said as Aurora sighed.
"Braddock." Captain Morgan side eyed her.
"Fine I'll be back." Aurora walked out the room sighing loudly.
She made her way out of Quantico and to the parking lot.
Aurora was the youngest of her group to have joined. At 23 she joined Quantico and dedicated herself to her job and learning. Two years later she was near doctorate in psychology but had also had much invested into her cases. Really that was what had held her up. Of course degree was another notch under her belt she was just so focused on her career.
This was actually her second big case. Her first was over a year ago. They were close to catching the killer but ended up in a standoff in which he killed himself.
Aurora rubbed her eyes before heading for her apartment.
She was glad her place wasn't far. It was a 15 minute drive and in a good neighborhood. What she loved about it most it wasn't far from her parents.
Aurora pulled up to see Reggie's car outside as she looked to her phone she had put on the charger when she had first got in.
She powered it on to see all her missed notifications.
"Shit." She said realizing not only did she miss all of her notifications but their anniversary.
It was literally their second year together and the second time she forgot.
She quickly grabbed her phone and laptop before getting out her Lexus and rushing for the door.
Aurora made her way into the complex and up the stairs. She figured Reggie was already inside since he had a key. He was always beating her home and this was the 1st time she wished he hadn't.
Aurora unlocked her door and opened it to see rose petals everywhere.
She walked in shutting the door seeing that the candles hand been blown out and the food on her kitchen table of course was cold.
