Dear Readers, buckle up....
2024..."Congratulations Lyric, you're pregnant." Dr.Mortenson said.
Lyric sat there in disbelief.
"What? Really?" She said as she looked at him.
"Yes, I know you still do physical therapy but you'll want to take it easy." He said looking at her.
"Remember, I was your second opinion and just like I said it wasn't impossible for you to conceive or walk again." He said and he truly believed that with time and effort, Lyric would walk again, especially now with her expecting.
"I know you don't want to give up hope on walking, I'm not saying you should but definitely take it easy while you're pregnant." He suggested.
She was barely 115 pounds.
Lyric hadn't always been small. She once had a regular shape without a sunken face. She even had legs that could move, that could dance. She glanced at her legs and then over in the mirror beside them as she started to debate if it was a life that made her look that way or just simply her husband Xavier.
Xavier was perfection, well in everyone else's eyes.
He was the CEO who inherited his family's business. It wasn't just his career that was outstanding but his background. He had been at the top of his class in both high school and college, graduating with honors and mentions. He was known as a brilliant man even with him being cold-hearted.
His 6-foot frame of perfection was head-turning. He was in the best physical shape, that was even when the two met. There wasn't even a blemish on his smooth brown skin. Even his haircut which he was fairly specific about, was perfect just like him.
To Lyric this icon of perfection just so happened to be her husband.
He wasn't always an idolized, arrogant man. He used to love her. She was sure that was back when she could walk at least.
"I'm sure Xavier will be happy." He added.
Of course, Dr.Mortenson was a family doctor, their family doctor.
He had been in charge of her care since she had gotten into that accident a few years ago.
He had also been one of the only people to show some sort of kindness to her.
Ever since her accident, she didn't know whether Xavier loved her, hated her, or pitied her.
It had been two years since her accident, 7 years since they married, and 8 years they were together, in total.
Even with all that time he just didn't seem to care.
The empty chair next to her was a big sign of just that.
Lyric looked at the chair imagining how things would have been if she left years ago, maybe her life would have been different but then what about Benji?
