Chapter Text
You spend most of your day trying not to focus on the fact that you’re going to be sleeping with Hoseok tonight. You don’t know what’s distressing you more—the fact that your aunt who you hated and your cousin who had tormented you growing up would be arriving in less than ten hours, or the fact that in ten hours you would be in Hoseok’s room. A room mind you, that you had not been in before today and even then it was only to start organizing your things. Moving from one room to the next was an entire upheaval and Hoseok couldn’t for the life of not understand why you were moving your entire room into his room when she would only be with you for a couple days.
But you were too stressed and annoyed to explain to him that your Aunt Mildred was not human—she was a force of nature and if her or her meddling son caught even a hint of something fishy going on inside this house, half of the country would know about it by your parents anniversary. The thought of it was enough to have your hands balling to fist and—
“Ah! Ah! Noona,” Jungkook whines and you look down with wide eyes, realizing you’re fisting at his hair.
“I’m so sorry, Jungkookie,” you say sincerely, brow furrowed in concern when he rubs at his head.
“It’s okay. Does it always hurt this much?” He frowns and you shake your head.
“No, I’m sorry. I got distracted. I’m almost done—hang on,” you say, taking the hair tie from between your teeth and tying the last of his hair. He turns in his seat to look at you and your heart melts, watching as he looks at his reflection in his phone.
“It’s cute.” He grins.
“It is,” you laugh, “Remind me again why you want your hair in pigtails?”
Jungkook, at the reminder, sucks in a deep breath. “Father said I had to cut my hair before your parents party. He says it’s too long like a girl and it’s unbecoming. So call it one last hurrah before I go in and cut it all off.”
“Oh Kookie, I’m sorry.” You frown, suddenly reminded of the fact that Irene and Jungkook’s parents were sticklers for perfection. It’s amazing your friend came away from it with such a free spirit when his parents were anything but. It’s why they loved Jimin so much—your brother was a stick in the mud, even more so than you but at least you could admit it. “I like your hair.”
“I like it too!” He whines, “But everytime he sees me he says it’s messy and I should do something about it. I even tried to slick it back.”
“Oh?”
“It was terrible I looked like l could be an extra in The Godfather.” He shudders at the thought. You go to fix his ‘bangs’ back—hair that was too short to fit in the pigtails but too long to do anything but get in his eyes. You tuck it behind his ear and pat him on the head.
“All done.”
“How’s it look?” He asks.
“Good. Better than good.” You say, extending your hand to help him up when you wince. You might’ve gone a little too hard today, but you do your best to hide it from Jungkook because—
He tsks at you and reaches for your bicep to massage some of the acne out, “I told you.”
“I’m fine.” You smile and try to pull he away but he holds you tighter, bending your arm back in an unnatural position. You cry out but he doesn’t let go.
