Y/N was silent as Zero waits for him to accept his hand.
A sankta with sarkaz features....
"Ahem!" Dobermann cleared her throat, effectively getting the Doctor's attention. She was standing by the reception desk.
Beside Dobermann was Franka. Ch'en and Amiya stood close to Y/N.
"Oh, right, I'm sorry. Nice meeting you, sir." Y/N, finally offering his own hand to Zero.
They sat down on the couches facing each other, a glass table placed in between.
"Hmm, it looks like you are preoccupied with something else." Zero started.
"Yes, actually, everything was in chaos today. But it is fine, we can still manage things out."
"Be at peace, Doctor, you made the right choice by accepting our proposal."
"Yes sir, I'm sure we did. This may not concern you very much but, it was Amiya who really accepted it."
Zero tried to figure out what the Doctor meant.
"I mean, I have no problems with all of this deals, it's just that I don't think I deserve the credit." Y/N finished, clearing things up for Zero.
"I see."
"But you did a part in making this meeting happen too, Doctor." Amiya insisted.
"Eh?" Y/N looked at Amiya with bit of confusion.
"You did, you just forgot about it for the most part I suppose." Ch'en said, still standing beside the Doctor's couch.
Zero stared quietly at all of them, trying to put the pieces of the puzzle the Rhodes Islanders are giving to him together.
Franka comes and puts a tray down on the table, complete with freshly made tea.
"Thank you." Zero acknowledges Franka.
Franka only gave him a sweet smile before turning around.
"I'm sorry, where are we?" Y/N, trying to bring back the rightful topic to the table.
"We haven't started anything yet I'm afraid." Zero said as he sets down the cup of tea after taking a small sip.
"Oh.. yeah so.." Amiya! Y/N looked at Amiya hoping she will get that he needs help.
Since when was I a good negotiator?
Zero saw the meaningful gaze Y/N was shooting towards Amiya, despite the helmet he's wearing. The cautus girl was looking down at some papers on her lap and scanning through them and sorting them out.
Fvcking-
"So.. Doctor Y/N." Zero calls Y/N's attention. "Let's talk about our-"
"Our agreement." A new voice came in.
All of them stared at the doorway of the reception room and found Kal'tsit walking towards the three.
"Apologies for being late." Kal'tsit said.
"I'm going to..." Y/N slipped to the couch where Amiya was sitting, which was positioned parallel to the glass table, with the other two couches being on the left and right.
Kal'tsit got the hint and sat on the couch where Y/N was previously in.
Y/N was whispering to Amiya and became completely inaudible to others.
"What are these papers?" Y/N whispered to Amiya as the conversation went well between Kal'tsit and Zero.
"These are some of the files given to us by BlueWing, and some from our own investigation about their company." Amiya answered while still keeping herself focused on the papers.
"Oh, I have my own copy of these, right?"
"Mmhm."
Y/N went silent afterwards, watching Amiya do the work and inevitably listening to the things Kal'tsit and Zero are talking about that he barely understood.
Ch'en stayed by the side of the door, Dobermann and Franka are at their same spot.
Y/N sighed randomly after his observations.
His action immediately caught the attention of the Kal'tsit and Zero. Amiya also looked up at Y/N.
"Doctor?" Amiya asked, knowing Y/N, she knew he will immediately know what she meant even when she just called out his name.
"Huh?.. wait no, don't mind me..." Y/N said, mainly focused on the the two negotiators in front of them. "I just ran short of breath."
Everyone was silent.
Amiya tried to know more by staring intently at Y/N, the latter not showing that he is avoiding eye contact.
"I guess we'll go talk somewhere else and not cause further interruptions.." Amiya declared as she stood up and fixed the papers on her hands, putting them on the table. "Come on Doctor." She excused the two of them and tugged on Y/N's sleeve before pulling him out of the reception room.
Everyone else waited for the doors to slide shut before turning their attention at each other.
"Continuing where we left...." Kal'tsit restarted the negotiations with Zero.
The others were on standby.
Dobermann remained attentive to provide any assistance needed, moving in to the couch where Amiya and Y/N was sitting a moment ago when she was called and helped Kal'tsit as she did the talking and she, with the arranged files hands out certain pages that would need further discussion.
Franka was hanging out at the reception desk, her arms laid on the marble surface that somehow reflects the coldness of the airconditioned room. Her eyes were on Zero, observing him closely like he is some kind of spy whose cover was blown off and was put under her surveillance. He is running a major competitor to Blacksteel, so it makes sense for her to be observant.
Ch'en laid on her back against the wall, her hands are what's keeping a part of her back from attaching to the wall's surface. She stared at the doorway. She had a faint idea what was going on through the Doctor's head. The past week has indeed been tough for Rhodes Island.
Amiya and Y/N were far enough from the reception's entrance now that the latter decided to stop Amiya by putting a hand on her shoulder.
"Amiya."
The cautus immediately stopped and looked at him.
"Was it really me who's having some trouble here or you?" The Doctor asked.
"Doctor, what is it that you're thinking back there?"
Y/N remained silent.
"I know, it was our best shot... we weren't expecting Mephisto to be preparing that large mass of his horde. Even a smaller group of that horde that we first encountered was hard enough. It feels heavy for me too, Doctor."
Amiya stared at the Doctor's dark visor, not being able to see his eyes, she can still feel his sights on her despite that.
"Don't worry Amiya, Reunion won't be out of our reach for long."
Amiya could feel the Doctor giving her a smile.
After their encounter with the Reunion leader, Frostnova, a massive amount of Mephisto's horde emerged from the various battlefields of Lungmen and disoriented the L.G.D. and Rhodes Island. The sudden twist of things made so much chaos that it gave most of Reunion a chance to retreat and leave Lungmen. After which Chernobog began to divert its course and started heading north.
The events that transpired in the final hours of the battle of Lungmen still left a heavy feeling on those involved, that all the deaths of their comrades, the deaths of the innocents were for nothing, they failed to annihilate those who caused these deaths and most of them even escaped.
"Doctor.. please don't be too hard on yourself because of this."
Doctor was silent. And then an idea came up to his mind. "Let's get some fresh air. The upper decks are the best places to let these negative stuff out."
Amiya chuckled at him, seeing he is getting better again. "I agree with you, Doctor. Let's go there."
