The bridge of Rhodes Island was always occupied, even at night there will always be a handful of personnel in charge. This day is no exception. There is the logistics crew handling different tasks. Most bridge personnel have their hands placed at the controls accompanied by a monitor in front of them. Keeping an eye on navigation and other things happening in and out of the landship.
This is the typical scenario, the same scenario that welcomes Y/N as he entered. Everyone minding their own work.
He saw Kal'tsit standing behind the post of a male vulpo to the left side of the bridge.
"What's happening?" Y/N asks as he closed the distance between him and Kal'tsit.
The latter looks at him before back to what seems to be a live video feed from an aircraft going at high speeds across the desert.
"A large presence of Reunion was spotted away from Chernobog."
"Wait.. we know where Chernobog is?"
"Don't you know?" The white haired feline stared at him with the 'are you serious' look on her face.
"Uhh... I guess I don't.. right I think I..—"
Y/N immediately stopped as he heard the other doctor sighed.
Kal'tsit placed a hand on her temple, closing her eyes. "What other damages to your brain we may have overlooked?..."
She places the clipboard on the table beside the sets of buttons where the operator's hands were. If she had not made that gesture, Y/N would almost not notice she was holding a clipboard.
"Up to this day we are still..." She paused for a moment before continuing. "I am still shocked by some of the changes in your personality."
"Just goes to show I'm no longer the old baddie doctor you once knew." Y/N brags.
Kal'tsit was surprised just now by that, but she's a good actor, so it didn't show up.
"The situation." She starts from the top. "A while ago, our sensors detected Reunion activity outside of Chernobog, we are currently tracking Chernobog for the past couple days. The mobile city and us are 5 kilometers apart. The subject at hand is about 600 meters away from Chernobog."
"What are they doing?"
"For now the mark is not moving on our radar, it does actually, but it's because of the landship's movement, not them."
A part of the desert that is for most of the time having a deafening silence now on a rare opportunity gets to hear a different type of sound that is not the wind.
The sounds belonging to an aircraft's engine. The distinct one produced by the helicopter's blades flies by as a trio of said aircraft rushed on the skies above the wasteland.
"Brace yourselves people! We're almost there!" The pilot of the middle chopper shouts to the passengers of his aircraft. "I don't see any of those white masks yet but they might be using camouflage."
"Aren't these variants supposed to be outfitted with detection equipment?" Ch'en, the one leading all teams that are on board the choppers, asks the pilot.
"Sure, but it's pointless." The pilot says. "Every time a new tech becomes handy, those affected by that tech, the targets, they simply strengthen their arts or adapt a counter to that upgrade, it's an endless loop."
Ch'en looks from the cockpit (even if she can't actually see the pilot) down to the sands below them as she stood on the edge of the aircraft, holding on to the handrails at the side of the doors.
