(A/N: 2nd to the last week, I hope everyone's enjoying our main cast here so far... they kind of seem like a random selection of people slammed into a single unit at times... I'm personally loving the dynamic between them tho~)
(The 2nd book (peek at the cover above) will be releasing 1 - 2 weeks after the 1st book which is this one (idk book seems like an appropriate enough term))

Blaze feels her radio. Black ash covered the device, and at this rate, whatever buttons she presses does not respond.

She lowers her hand with a sigh. They have only gone several floors down.

She turns to Flamebringer, who stands at the stairs about to descend to the next floor.

"You can go if you want." she offers with an ungrateful tone.

"What are you planning with her?" he glared at the feline.

Blaze glances at Talulah, still as docile as if she wasn't set on burning the whole upper half of the tower.

"I thought we'd catch up to (Y/N) and the others here." she replied, "You don't expect us to have her parade with us out in the streets outside while we retreat.

"However, comms are fried for me, I have no idea whether someone has already called up for extraction."

Flamebringer takes the hint and turns around. "I'll relay. You go back up."

"I don't need you to tell me anything." Blaze sighed. As usual, the sarkaz didn't seem to care.

"You already called?" (Y/N) repeats.

Texas nods.

He looks to the side, "It did sound like the fighting has gone down."

"And I bet you know how powerful the two who went against her are." Texas reassures him.

(Y/N) stares at her, baffled. "I didn't expect you to trust"-

"I can trust just about anyone. I don't want to get tired over judging whether anyone is worth trusting."

Texas's words leaves (Y/N) with more confusion.

Both of them, after an arduous spiraling down all those stairs, have reached the ground floor.

The lobby is a complete mess. A dumpsite of corpses, wherein some operators sat with their backs against the wall, and are seated mere feet from the corpses.

There weren't even as many remains found here as one would expect.

"Wait a minute..." (Y/N) frowns in fear, looking at the first operator he sees - Matterhorn.

The forte looks up.

"You shouldn't be here!" The Doctor worriedly says to the fatigued defender.

Outside, are most of the group, standing around as they expanded the perimeters around the building.

"There's nothing to be worried about, Doctor." Matterhorn tells him, "We've already vacated this area before."

The stillness of every single thing in his sight, easily made (Y/N)'s eyes concentrate as a figure appears dashing from the street.

Sierra and Mostima, who stood closest to their way, stepped back in surprise. Or at least, Sierra did make the gesture.

It was Ch'en, and she is blocked by Mostima as she closed in on them.

"Step aside." Ch'en demanded with her stoic voice.

Mostima with her unmoved smile, chuckles, "You're sweating buckets, captain."
