With the many other footsteps clicking and stomping on the gravel, Jyuto, Rio, and Samatoki walked cooly around their city that was holding the Eternal Dusk Firework festival tonight. They glanced around and greeted those who spoke with them, and made their way to Yamashita Park. The park was calm despite the crowd, and it sounded of chatter and crickets tuning their songs. It was beautiful in the eyes of those who aim to see the world. The tradition of the old Japanese culture still shows proudly, everlasting within its land. Rio couldn't help but to chuckle at the expressions the younger children and adults gave. They reminded him exactly of...

"Commander (L/n)."

"Hm?"

You titled your head to the smaller being right besides you. He surveyed the area with his dull eyes, leaving no face untraced. Always a wonder he is to you. Especially when he finally decides to speak, his voice doesn't match his eyes. He has a soft, slightly deep boy's voice. Meanwhile, his eyes are as clear as the ocean but as lifeless as a corpse. You feared for his well-being. If you-when you-let him out of commission, whether that be from an injury or from years of service, you were scared to know or not if he were to be an outcast because of his personality and traumas from war. If this wae ever comes to an end that is...

For both political and fighting standpoints, this was definitely one of the longest wars. World War III did not mess around. All because of that retched woman and her minions, Otome Tohoten. You were sure that others were behind this too, but all of your focus was on that dear woman who wants nothing more than superiority. Why attack Japan and declare a war with the countries when you're already the Prime Minister by self-proclamation? That's a simple question to answer. Power. Otome only wants power and nothing more in your mind. And what better way to have power than to control the entire world?

Blasphemy, you try to tell yourself. There was most certainly a reason behind her story other than the fulfillment of control, yet you refused to listen to it. Your top priority was to get this commotion done and over with with as many lives as you can saved. Even if it costed your life, you only wanted peace to overcome the world...As if that could happen. Humans are not capable of change. War has been and always will be their solution. Children fighting over a toy—war. Men arguing over a foul in a game—war. Friends yelling at each other about dangerous situations—war. It isn't just a physically damaging thing to come across. War is a big competition where two or multiple sides don't come to an agreement, and go into conflict because of it. Conflict doesn't always mean bite, shoot, or hit either. It's a dispute. A debate in some circumstances.

War can become so many things, and it will become anything. Everything except for peace. That is why you joined the army and it's navy. You wanted to fight so hard for a better world. A world where the only arguments are simple things, like arguing if chocolate or vanilla is better. Yet, you knew that that calmness wouldn't last forever either. And here you are, going back into war over silly things. You just didn't like fighting. As a child, you were afraid to even hurt an insect. Soldiers in your family told you that you were not capable of fighting alongside with them, yet you're now a commander telling them what to do. Life is funny. It's unfair, but equal.

"What...are they all doing?"

Rio pointed to the crowd that walked around, all having equally joyful expressions. Some were with friends and family, some were with lovers, and others were by themselves just enjoying their solemn loneliness. You couldn't help but to chuckle at the boy's question and waved your hands.
