"Malfoy Family"
-THE STUDENTS WERE NOW ALL BUSY WITH PACKING AS THEY WOULD BE GOING HOME FOR THE SUMMER IN A FEW DAYS, WHILE ADHARA WAS IN THE LIBRARY SINCE SHE HAD ALREADY PACKED. She picked out a book and started reading it, not realizing someone behind her.
"Adhara?" Sirius questioned, standing behind her.
She lifted her head up from the book and turned around. "Yes, Sirius?"
"I just wanted to let you know that.." He started, suddenly looking awkward, not knowing how to say this so he just blurted it out. "Oh, bloody hell. We want you to spend the Summer with us. It's your choice, of course, but I just wanted to let you know."
Adhara smiled slightly, making him do a double-take, but it immediately vanished when she realized. "Thank you. I suppose I'll come the last month of summer." She said, making Sirius smile widely.
"Oh, how I've missed you!" Narcissa immediately gushed over her daughter after apparating back home.
"Mother. I can't breathe." Adhara tried getting out of her grip, but was unsuccessful, making Draco and Lucius laugh.
"Oh, hush darling. I haven't seen you in almost a year!"
"You haven't seen Draco in almost a year as well-"
"Yes, she did on Yule. Plus, I already got my hug." Draco immediately said, earning a glare from his sister, which he just replied with a smirk.
Adhara was on her bed, sketching because she was bored, when her door suddenly opened.
Narcissa walked in with a slight skip in her step, looking extremely excited. "We're going shopping."
Adhara looked horrified. "I hate shopping."
"You need a dress."
"I have thousands of dresses, mother. Literally." Adhara pointed to the extra walk-in wardrobe of hers that was filled with extraordinary clothes that she never wore.
Narcissa frowned and crossed her arms. "There's going to be an event happening this year at Hogwarts. So, we're getting you a dress."
Adhara frowned in thought. "An event? I'd actually like to wear a suit."
Narcissa beamed. "Then let's go get you a beautiful, extravagant suit, Adhara Cecilia Black-Malfoy!"
The next three hours were filled with looking around for suits, much to the dismay of Adhara. When they finally found a good one, they bought it and walked over to a cafe, wanting to spend some mother-daughter time together.
"So how was Sirius treating you?" questioned Narcissa as they sat down.
"Honestly? Quite well." Adhara admitted and scratched her neck sheepishly. "Even when I was nothing but rude to him - and his husband."
Narcissa chocked on her tea and immediately reached over for a napkin, elegantly cleaning herself up. "Pardon?"
Her daughter pursed her lips and looked away. "He's married."
Narcissa opened her mouth and closed it a few times, not knowing what to say due to how shocked she was. "How did none of us Blacks know?"
Adhara gave her a look, "What Blacks, mother? Dear old aunty Bella is in Azkaban, dear old aunty Andromeda is disowned, and dear old you have been cut off from contacting dear old daddy dearest. The others are all dead. Probably rolling in their graves due to whom he married." she mumbled the last part, making Narcissa look intrigued.
"Who did he marry?"
"Remus Lupin. Half blood, I believe."
Narcissa's eyes widened with recognition. "Wait I remember him! I was in my Seventh year when he was sorted into Gryffindor, I believe."
Adhara's eyed narrowed as she nodded. "Know anything else about him?"
"Want to ruin their marriage, Ara?" Narcissa teased, making Adhara's shoulders slump.
"No. But Sirius deserves better."
Narcissa frowned. "Better? Doesn't he make him happy?"
"He looked more happy with my mum." Adhara admitted, pulling a necklace from her neck, which was charmed that only herself could see it, which was why Narcissa didn't notice it until Adhara herself pulled it off.
"What's that, darling?"
Adhara looked at her for a few seconds and then opened the necklace. There was a magical picture of her biological parents as 19 year olds in it:
Narcissa did a double-take at the image of the obvious love between the two. "Wow.." she eventually said as her daughter wore the necklace again, which immediately vanished from sight.
Adhara nodded, "It's obvious there was a lot of love between them."
Her mother looked at her in pity. "Are you sure you're not only saying that because you wished it were true?"
Adhara looked scandalized. "Of course not!" She immediately denied.
Narcissa tilted her head with a knowing look. "Maybe you should just let it go, Ara. I know it's hard, but if Sirius wasn't happy with his husband, then he'd leave him."
Adhara frowned but reluctantly nodded, making her mother smile. Narcissa was right.
