"Monster."
-ADHARA WALKED INTO HER DORM A FEW HOURS LATER. She got changed into sweatpants and took off her sweatshirt, which meant that she was now only in her bra.
"Episky," muttered Adhara as she pointed her wand at her hand that was bruising immensely.
Pansy, who was in the bathroom, walked into their dorm, catching Adhara's attention. "You're technically naked." She stated with a faint blush across her cheeks.
Adhara let out a laugh. "Does it bother you?"
"No." said Pansy quickly. A little too quickly, which made Adhara give her a smirk. "What's wrong with your hand?" She immediately switched the subject.
Sighing, Adhara looked back at her hands. "I got in a fight with McLaggen. He's in the hospital wing being treated for 2 broken ribs and a broken nose."
"Damn." mused Pansy, walking over to her to get a better look at her hands. "Ferula."
They watched as Adhara's hands were now bandaged up. "Thanks, Pans."
Pansy nodded. "Anytime."
Adhara couldn't fall asleep that night, so she put on a hoodie and walked down to the common room.
"Draco?" She asked in confusion when she noticed him by the fireplace.
Draco's face snapped up. "Ara? Why are you awake?"
"I could ask you the same thing."
He immediately pulled her into his arms when she sat down next to him.
Adhara looked shocked for a second, but immediately hugged back and started to relax.
"I'm worried about you." admitted Draco finally. "I have been for months, Ara. I just didn't know how to talk about this to you."
"Worried? Draco, I'm fine."
"You look like you haven't slept in weeks." He pointed out, pulling away and pointing to the bags under her eyes. "I want to help, Ara. Please, let me in."
She sighed, holding his hand. Her eyes teared up and she was hoping that her brother didn't notice, but judging by his widened eyes, it seemed like he did. "I'm a monster, Dray."
"You're not a monster. You've just been through alot. Maybe talking about them will help?" He suggested, kissing her head softly when she laid her head on his shoulder.
"I miss Claudette." She murmured, her head never leaving his shoulder.
Draco looked extremely shocked. Adhara had never brought her up ever since her death, so that was very surprising. "What?"
"She would've been here for me." Adhara admitted, wiping some of her tears. "The ones that claim to care about me here, don't even know what I'm going through."
"You miss Beauxbatons?"
She shrugged, relaxing when he started rubbing her back comfortingly. "I don't miss Beauxbatons. I only miss Claudette. Dray, I could've saved her-"
"She chose to leave, Ara. No matter what you did, she had already made her choice."
"But she was a child! She didn't deserve to even feel that way! She was young. she shouldn't have even known what suicide was!"
"I know." He sighed, pulling her to his chest again. "I know."
"It hurts to know that I could've saved her had I paid more attention to her-"
"Ara, you shouldn't blame yourself."
"I can't help it. Heck, I can't help blaming myself for Bellatrix's death." She pulled away, wiping her tears, but her eyes still held unshed tears. "I know mother said that I did the right thing, but I had walked in on her crying a few times, Dray. I could've let her live.. I should've let her live."
"Ara, of course she was going to cry. But that's it." Draco pointed out immediately. "They were sisters, and that's what hurt mother. She felt betrayed by her sister. She didn't cry because of you, she didn't cry because of her death. She cried because she believed that she could've stopped Aunt Bella becoming a death eater in the first place."
"But she couldn't." frowned Adhara. "Bellatrix had already made her choice."
Draco shrugged. "Mother blames herself."
Adhara sighed, not even knowing if she felt better. "I don't know what to do, Dray."
"Have you tried mending your relationship with the Potters and Blacks?"
Her face hardened. "They all realized what was happening to me, but none of them made an effort to help. Whereas I killed for them. Literally."
"So, that's what it's all about?"
She stood up and walked to the staircases that led her to the girl's dormitories. "It's about the fact that when I needed them most, all they did was act like I left them. I didn't leave them, Draco. I killed my aunt, her husband, her husband's brother, and some random death eater for them. I spent my time figuring out where they were kidnapped to, while the Ministry had no clue whatsoever. I was worried for them. I cared for them."
Draco frowned in pity, watching as she walked up the staircase and left him alone in the empty common room.
It was no wonder Adhara had changed.
Caring for somebody was already hard for her and finding out they didn't care for her in return... it broke her.
She was hurt.
But she was turning that hurt into rage, because dealing with anger was easier than dealing with hurt.
And maybe that's what changed her.
Maybe if she got help earlier, this wouldn't have happened.
Maybe if they helped.
Maybe..
