.
The streets were quiet, and the songs of night birds filled the air.
Someone played the *pipa, and every twang of the string seemed to compliment the birds.
* Pipa- Lute
In the shadows of a building, a blind old man stood some distance from the Shuǐ Manor, staring somewhat longingly at the impressive structure.
He tipped his head back and drank a considerable bit of wine from a gourd, then wiped his mouth with the back of his sleeve, and hung the gourd on his belt.
'After all these years...' Healer Wang sat and leaned against the dirty wall. 'I've found you...'
In the past few days, he had knocked out the Shuǐ physician and locked him in an abandoned shed with enough food and water to last him two weeks.
Then he had placed himself where the Shuǐ messenger would find him and invite him to the Sentence.
He had had to leave quickly, since the original physician had somehow escaped, and was now looking for the 'blind man who had lured him', but Healer Wang was content that he knew where Zhao LanFeng was.
He pulled out a beautiful jade flute, and blew into it softly, complimenting the music from the pipa. 'Now that I've found you, you're not leaving my sight.'
.
The next day, LanFeng yawned a lenghty yawn and stretched a lenghty stretch.
The day was already shaping into a warm day, and despite the late winter chill, the sun peeked through the trees outside her window, as if impatient to bathe her in it's magnificent rays.
'Haaaa! I think I will slack off today!' She thought to herself. 'I'll explore Jade City, and then find somewhere to enjoy wine, flowers and moonlight!
'After all, my enemies will be under the same moon... Hehe. Shouldn't we appreciate it together?'
Winter was dying, and with it would go several flowers. There was even a rare type of Winter Lotus that was rumoured to bloom here in Jade City, and LanFen absentmindedly wondered whether it had already died away...
Her thoughts were interrupted by the sliding doors, and she turned to see a few of the Shuǐ servant girls came in with trays.
LanFen beamed at them. "I was just dwelling on flowers, and the breeze blew them in. My my! The room suddenly brightened a lot!"
The servant girls blushed furiously, giggling behind their hands, as they arranged tea, a bowl of congee, soup, and a few side dishes on the table.
One of them, obviously the leader, bowed and spoke, "Young Master Zhao, since you've recovered, Young Master Lu and Miss Lu Qiang, won't be coming as often. We have been assigned to serve you."
"Ah, so the pretty disciple has been replaced with even prettier ladies?"
They all giggled at the compliment, and LanFen's fan appeared in her hand. She used spirit power to disguise it as a harmless light blue, to match the house robes she was wearing.
Most of the Maids were batting their lashes at LanFen, except the Leader, who was too dignified, and settled for a blush.
But one of the maids behind, was glaring at LanFen with something akin to dislike.
"Oh? You're an unusual one, aren't you?" LanFen noted.
LanFen had been blessed with her mother's good looks, and according to her mother, she had also been blessed with her father's charm.
