The hall was still silent, as Shuǐ ChangSheng began to tell them the story...
"It started around twenty-nine ago, before you all were born. Zhao Feng and I went to the Yun mountains in Dahlia City, to hunt and cultivate." His eyes fell on LanFen, as Zhao Feng was her father.
At the time, a much younger Shuǐ ChangSheng had wanted to go alone, but Zhao ZhuYong had insisted on accompanying him.
"Zhao Feng! You're too much of a bother! How will I concentrate, if I'm in your presence?!" Shuǐ ChangSheng protested his company.
Zhao ZhuYong put a finger to his lips. "Shhh! You just became Clan Leader a year ago! How can you say such things out loud! Won't people assume we have 'that' kind of relationship?!"
"This is exactly what I mean!" Shuǐ ChangSheng fumed, his ears turning slightly red.
"Ehehehe, I'll be quiet, I'll be quiet!" Zhao ZhuYong promised, as a way of placating him. "Don't worry, I won't tease you too much! I'll only bother you when you're bored. Don't forget, the townspeople below said the mountain is extremely dangerous!
"Old man Shuǐ would surely disturb me from his grave, if I let you fall into danger!"
Shuǐ ChangSheng looked at his friend and shook his head. He was more than certain that Zhao Feng would bother him almost every step of the way!
But even he couldn't deny that Zhao Feng's presence would benefit him.
The two had an easy companionship from childhood, and understood each other's ins and outs. It would be nice to have someone to complain to or ask for advice.
And besides, the Yun mountains were dangerous, and Zhao Feng wasn't just blowing hot air by insisting on protecting him...
Shuǐ ChangSheng was still trying to step into the Purple Realm, but at that young age, Zhao Feng, was already nearing the Black realm!
Both men were young, and had celebrated their twenty first birthdays, only months apart.
However, while Shuǐ ChangSheng was proper, responsible and mild-mannered, Zhao ZhuYong was a polar opposite, and did not play to rules at all!
Fortunately, he was an outstanding genius that no one could touch, especially since he was the successor to the Zhao Clan.
A few had wondered whether such a person would be suitable to lead a Ruling Clan, but they were usually surprised to find that Zhao ZhuYong became an entirely different person, whenever important matters arose, and there was no flaw to his leadership, except perhaps for the fact that he teased his disciples mercilessly!
.
Shuǐ ChangSheng and Zhao ZhuYong had spent nearly two months in the Yun mountains, and though ZhuYong had only followed for protection, he ended up cultivating as well.
On the day before they were set to leave the mountain, the two ran into an extremely dangerous monster that had never been heard of.
The creature was strong enough to defeat someone in the white realm, so though Zhao ZhuYong was a genius, he could not handle it.
He managed to stop it from harming Shuǐ ChangSheng several times, but he had eventually gotten seriously wounded, so Shuǐ ChangSheng rushed to him, and they both assumed they were about to part ways with life.
But then...
Just as the monster had been about to deal them both a deathly blow, a figure had flown in from the side, and with an impossible speed, the small figure had wrapped a criss-cross of beautiful, white chains, around the monster's neck.
