Everything had gone quiet, as Shuǐ YanXuan's aura rose in angry waves.

LanFen didn't understand what was happening, but from the deathly gaze Shuǐ YanXuan was directing at Elder Xu, the two certainly knew each other.

"Don't we have unfinished business?!" Shuǐ YanXuan demanded, but Elder Xu waved him away.

"Let me finish my discussion." He turned his head slightly, his gaze dropping to LanFen.

"This old man must apologize..." Elder Xu spoke into her mind. "I wasn't in any danger on the day we met, but I was putting up an act, so I could lure that fellow, and in my selfishness, I began to use you as a sword against the evil cultivators who absorbed enlightened demons...

"If I hadn't talked you into becoming a demon cultivator, you wouldn't be here now..."

"Hmph! Old man Xu, after so many years, you still don't know what I'm like? If I didn't want to, would I have done it?" She asked aloud, but he shook his hand.

"The reason I could advise you to leave QingJun on Bai Hua mountain, or even to stay away from the Shuǐ successor, was because I knew first-hand, what it meant to be an Ancient creature, in a world with people like him!" He jerked his head coldly, towards Shuǐ YanXuan.

LanFen's features had gone from shock, to awe, to annoyance... She was a bit angry that he had kept such a thing from her!

If he was so powerful, then why hadn't he protected her and Jun, back then?!

"I know what you're thinking. But I couldn't have..." He had spoken aloud, but didn't elaborate further and, turned to face Shuǐ YanXuan.

LanFen's face had settled into part understanding, as she realized that, even Elder Xu might have been scared of the Elder...

Wasn't she being selfish, expecting such a thing from him?

"Old man, will you be able to handle him?" She asked, unable to quell her worry.

"Uhm." He simply replied. "In the meantime, escape with Elder pot, from this place."

Shuǐ YanXuan scoffed. "To think the sly old man I've been looking for, these many years, has been right under my nose, for more than a year!

"I should thank the Zhao family, for all the surprises I've received in the past days!" Shuǐ YanXuan formed a hand seal there were suddenly seven bright white swords heading straight for Elder Xu, but Elder Xu blocked them with a large red qi shield.

Shuǐ YanXuan's demons had overcome their fear, and attacked as well, but LanFen's own demons didn't sit still either.

Tang had jumped right into the fray, with Lady Mei following him, using the Ladybugs to distract and confuse the enemies.

Shen had leapt backwards, supporting the rest by playing his pipa, and sending harmful waves, directed at the enemy demons.

The Whirlwind demon, who LanFen had considered her strongest demon before now, targeted a few of the stronger enemies, absorbing them into his endless void, before they realized what his strengths were.

The ghost lady broke apart into wraiths, which spread a frigid chill, over those she could touch, leaving them easy for the others to attack...

In the end, LanFen's demons were decently holding their own, most likely because of their strange powers, which someone like Shuǐ YanXuan would usually ignore.
