Shuǐ ChénLín had arrived at the Lin Residence.

"Young Master Shuǐ!" Lord Lin bowed in greeting. The Lin family were low level officials in Jade City, so Shuǐ ChénLín outranked him.

Shuǐ ChénLín hurriedly bowed. "Ah, Lord Lin, please." He never felt comfortable whenever his future father-in-law payed him respect.

Lord Lin beamed at him. "Ehehe, it's only proper. Can I interest you in a cup of my finest tea? I just got a supreme batch from beyond the borders!"

Shuǐ ChénLín's ears perked up at that. He did love good tea. "My pleasure."

"Xu Yin!" Lord Lin called to his servant. "Inform A-Ling that Young Master Shuǐ is here! Ehehe, this way, Young Master Shuǐ."

He led Shuǐ ChénLín over to a stone table and seats in a neat, well tended garden.

A maid hurried over with the tea a short while later, and Lord Lin filled both cups, placed the lid over them, then handed one to Shuǐ ChénLín.

Shuǐ ChénLín graciously received it with two hands, then lifted the lid slightly and scented the tea. "It scents nice."

Lord Lin, "Right? I knew it was a good find, from day one!"

Shuǐ ChénLín nodded, then sipped out of the tea and dropped it gently. It was good tea.

"Father!" Lin Lingshan had arrived, bringing in the beautiful scent of flowers, with an even more beautiful appearance.

Lord Lin smiled at his daughter.

The Lins were not too high on the social ladder, nor were they strong martial artists, but they had always had their eyes on the core of the Wulin.

Luckily, Lord Lin had the fortune of marrying the daughter of one of the distant Shuǐ branch families, and an even better fortune came his way when his two children had been born.

His first child, Lin Liangfang, had inherited his mother's bloodline, and had managed to step into the Black realm at the age of thirty two!

He was currently one of the Shining Four that followed Clan Leader Shuǐ everywhere.

His second child, Lingshan, was born a rare beauty that effortlessly grabbed attention.

Rumours had abounded when Lin Lingshan had constantly insisted on playing or training in the Shuǐ Manor, as everyone saw it as a deliberate ploy to catch Shuǐ ChénLín's eye.

But whether it was true or not, Lin Lingshan had succeeded in doing so!

Since she was his distant cousin, no one thought it strange when her father proposed marriage.

Because of the family relation, Clan Leader Shuǐ didn't oppose, especially since Shuǐ Chén himself didn't seem to mind Lin Lingshan's company at all.

"Chén gē ge." Lin Lingshan greeted him prettily, a bright smile on her face.

"Xiao Ling." Shuǐ ChénLín had stood up to welcome her and she went to him.

"Ahem!" Lord Lin cleared his throat. "I just remembered that I have to take care of some business... I'll leave you two." he hurriedly excused himself.

"Chén gē ge, I'm so happy that you came to see me like this!" She waved her maid over and her maid brought over a stepped lunchbox. "I received these dates from Douyan province. They are freshly harvested."

"Thank you." Shuǐ ChénLín guided her over to the chair her father had just vacated. "Please seat." then he sat opposite her, took one of the dates and bit into it.
