.
Almost an hour had passed in the gentle breeze, before Shuǐ ChénLín left LanFen alone.
"You... I can leave you on your own now, right?" He had asked before leaving.
"Uhm." LanFen had simply nodded. Shuǐ ChénLín walked away, and then tossed the veiled hat to her.
LanFen sat on her own after he left, then shut her eyes, as the colourful leaves blew about.
She stayed there quietly for a while, allowing her tears to run down freely.
But before long, she was more than ready to begin.
'I don't have the time to sit here and cry!'
As Shuǐ ChénLín had reminded her, this mission was indeed an opportunity she could not afford to miss.
This mission was the next step of her revenge...
LanFen left the mountain, and went to Bronze City's chrysanthemum peak. A place where she had played with Jun far too many times.
There, after a sad and silent moment, she summoned Lady Mei.
"Greetings, Mast- . This is-!" Lady Mei had noticed where they were. "Master, are you alright?! There is no way you are fine, if you are here!"
Lady Mei's face was filled with clear worry, as she studied LanFen. This explained why her spirit realm had steadily grown darker than before, in the last few days.
LanFen just smiled. "I have to be here, even if it's unpleasant... I need you to send out your bugs again..."
.
After that, LanFen skipped into town, deciding to hear a few things first hand.
She set her sights on three Fruit and Vegetable traders, almost immediately.
'What better way to start.'
Traders liked to gossip.
However, most of them would rarely ever discuss freely in front of outsiders, so she approached in a 'tried and trusted' method.
"Wah!" She exclaimed, as she hurried over to admire a cabbage. "Such plump and fresh vegetables! I didn't think such things could grow in Bronze city."
Trader 1, "Ei? Were you raised in a cave? All the four capitals are known for having good lands for farming! These are the best cabbages you will find for miles! Only a small silver piece, for three!"
Trader 2, "And these fruits here, are supplied to the prominent households, and even the Kong Manor! Come! I'll sell them at a bargain!"
LanFen raised the veil so her face was visible.
Hiding one's face would only breed distrust, and she had made herself presentable, so she wouldn't resemble a 'panda' anymore.
However, she placed the veil in a way that no one to her side, or behind her on the streets, could see her face clearly.
The traders were marvelling at such a perfect face for a man, but LanFen had picked one of the cabbages.
"Haan? How is this the case? Master always says the cultivation essence in Bronze city is ' Earth', so the terrain is rather rocky, and not good at all for farming!"
It was a joke she had heard from time to time in Bronze City, so it was the perfect way to approach them.
"Ahahahahaha!" All three of them laughed at the clear disbelief on her young face.
