LanFen began her day, not long after midnight.

She had realized her core felt much denser than before, so she quickly sat in the lotus position and began cultivating, changing her hand seals and channeling her qi.

She hadn't cultivated for long, when she felt a few more of her meridians open up, and a flood of qi rush through her. The aura surrounding her was was the usual black, but now with a line of gold, which circled her and rose in an endless spiral...

'Breakthrough!'

She had finally stepped into the Black Realm!

LanFen laughed joyfully, before resuming her meditation.

It wasn't just her breakthrough that was new. Shushu's qi had added an odd new string of energy that interwove with her own qi, but didn't merge.

This was quite unusual, and most likely deliberate.

Usually, a demon could not transfer qi to a human, and even when humans hunted lesser demons, they had to perform several layers of refinement, which left them with just a little of the monster's original energy.

Following the same rule, LanFen's own qi had nothing to do with her demons' qi, even though they stayed in her spirit realm.

But Shushu was steadily sharing a constant string of energy that enhanced her own qi, without merging with it!

"Wah!" She finished her meditation. "Shushu, aren't you doing too much to repay a debt you don't even owe?!" She asked aloud, even though she knew he couldn't hear her.

The dawn was still dark, by the time LanFen finished, and everywhere was silent.

Now that she had stepped into the Black Realm, her senses were sharper than before, and she felt a familiar aura from a far distance away.

Her irises darted to the door, and she got off the bed excitedly, as she felt him approach.

Shuǐ ChénLín reached the door, but didn't go in immediately, and he stood there, a bit indecisive.

Even in her long sleep, LanFen had constantly worried about him. Lu FengHo had assured her that Shuǐ ChénLín was completely fine, but she had still wanted to lay her eyes on him.

Yet, at present, she stopped herself from running to throw the door open, and she just stared at the door from inside as well.

Almost three minutes passed, before she finally sighed. "Shuǐ Chén. Aren't you going to come in and see me?" She asked softly, knowing he would hear her.

Shuǐ ChénLín finally opened the door and stepped in.

His eyes brightened, as his gaze fell on her, and his expression was incredibly soft.

But then, he scowled in the next instant. "Zhao LanFeng! Exactly what where you trying to do with that mantis back then?!" He demanded, remembering the foreign fear that had gripped him in that moment.

But LanFen's eyes danced over him happily. "Shuǐ Chén! I'm happy to see you too! Why be like this from the start? Handsome types are really too serious!" She folded her hands.

"Besides, I can ask you the same question, can't I? I had switched our positions... Why did you reverse it?"

The memory of Shuǐ ChénLín getting slashed, and then his warm blood flowing down to her, had felt like a nail being driven through her own heart.

Before she realised it, she had used the blood lust technique.

"Zhao LanFeng!" Shuǐ ChénLín's tone was angry, but his gaze was boring into her with an entirely different emotion.
