Yun glared at LanFen, as she held the same Lotus sword that had destroyed his body and put him to sleep for thousands of years.

The same sword filled with Lien's Lifeforce...

A small part of Yun remembered.

'Lien.'

The light that had filled his existence.

Their two beating hearts had met and formed a balance that must have frightened even the heavens... Why else would she have needed to leave the earth?

Back then, at the point of his death, at the instant the lotus sword had begun to descend, Yun had refused to move, because he had briefly thought, 'This is the only way I can be surrounded by Lien's essence again.'

But now, he was just furious.

He hated the earth that had given him Lien, only to take her away.

He hated the heavens that had allowed it to happen.

And he hated the humans before him...

'How dare you?!'

They had used Lien to destroy him in the past, and still dared to do so now?

Yun's face darkened even further, as he glared at LanFen. "That is not something I will permit you to hold! Lien belonged to me, and I won't let you disrespect her!"

LanFen held up the sword, then scoffed. "Ah, Lady Lien indeed gave her lifeforce to create a weapon like this."

It wasn't the same Lotus sword that Lien and Yin Long had used back then, but Yin Long had recreated something similar, which came to LanFen, when she was done cultivating the scroll.

Yin Long likely knew it would rile up Yun, so LanFen didn't correct Yun's assumption that it was the same...

The change in Yun's attitude was quite telling, so instead, she made things worse bringing out her own sword, Shubi.

In the Abyss, Shubi had pulled her towards Yun's energy, but now it remained in her hands.

Her new level of power made it possible to tamp down on whatever link the sword shared with Yun, but she currently wasn't doing anything to it.

Yet it remained still, with not even the slightest tug.

'It must have been drawn to the Yun from back then, not this one.' LanFen thought, but she taunted Yun aloud.

"Even your own sword won't return to you anymore... I seem to have a talent for taking what was once yours."

Yun roared in anger, and energy burst from him, as he unleashed his full aura.

More. Thousands more of the dense black spears had appeared, all rushing to LanFen. There were far too many for her to reverse, so she evaded them, disappearing and appearing before they could reach her.

Shuǐ ChénLín was now controlling his shield with several hand seals, lifting it higher or further, and moving it out of the way, whenever one of the evaded spears headed in their direction.

He longed to go and help LanFen, but he knew he couldn't leave the people behind him...

Meanwhile, LanFen efficiently evaded the spears.

"Ten Thousand dark swaying petals." She had spoken softly, and as usual, her sword burst into numerous tiny pieces, leaving only the hilt in her hand. However, the technique was a bit different...
