After the war against demons, certain individuals who believed the innocent demons were being blamed for the crimes of one, had refused to give up the art of Demon Cultivation.

Rather than let the Wulin bully them, they had willfully exited from the Wulin and formed their own Clan.

The Shadow Clan.

There was an unspoken agreement after that day, that anything related to the Shadow Clan was evil!

And what made the situation worse, was that they had attacked the Zhao Clan nineteen years ago, and were responsible for the death of Zhao LanFeng's father.

Which was why Shuǐ ChénLín and Lu FengHo stared at LanFen for almost a full minute, after her confession.

Shuǐ ChénLín moved first. "Keep an eye in him." He told Lu FengHo, then left immediately to inform his father.

Lu FengHo watched her curiously, when they were alone. 'No wonder, he's so arrogant!' The Shadow Clan was indeed known to prioritize power...

Even if a person was ten years older, they would call a junior 'senior', if their cultivation level was lower!

Lu FengHo supposed Zhao LanFeng was different, since he had only spent a few years in the Shadow Clan, but given his strength, he still didn't understand why Zhao LanFeng was here, behaving himself...

"Zhao LanFeng. I want an honest answer." He began seriously.

He had come to care for Zhao LanFeng's well-being, and certainly didn't want to see him hurt, but he needed to know if he was someone worth supporting.

"What is really keeping you here? Your spirit power is back to normal, and I've been defeated by you before," He reddened slightly as he said this, "Even Shuǐ Chén will have a hard time stopping you, if you really wanted to escape... So what is keeping you here?"

LanFen sighed. "Elder brother Lu, you've always treated me with courtesy, even when I was considered an enemy, so I will try to answer honestly..."

She smiled, facing the setting sun, her hands held behind her back.

"All I can tell you is that there are two reasons I am behaving. On one hand, Clan Leader Shuǐ and I have an arrangement, though I would rather not clarify. Just know he enticed me into staying, and that I will not do anything to harm the Shuǐ Clan.

"However, there is another reason I have to behave." A reason she had only realized, while she had been healing.

"My actions as 'Xuè Shèngrén' led my Grand uncle to come and defend me before the Wulin, which has now undeniably tied the hated name of Xuè Shèngrén to the Zhao Clan."

She grinned before continuing.

"I've created many enemies... If old man Zhao hadn't come, my enemies would assume I was hated by the Zhao Clan as well, and leave them alone. But now, if I misbehave, those same enemies would have an excuse to attack the Zhao Clan, and they would even have the Wulin on their side...

"I'm also responsible for making the Zhao Clan weak, so I'd rather not make things easy for their enemies. I can only try my best to behave myself."

Lu FengHo felt his heart slightly waver, as he stared at Zhao LanFeng's disheveled, but graceful silhouette, against the backdrop of the setting sun.

For someone so young to speak so wisely and elegantly...

Most times Zhao LanFeng was the mischievous, carefree devil, who teased him at any given opportunity, and he might even give Shuǐ ChénLín, early gray hairs!
