Wayne wanted to do something special today. He asked Lucas if we can do dinner at the home. He also said it was a surprise and to dress up. Lucas was glad to help and used the tables outside to good use.
Within the year, things were going okay. I was telling Lisa that I was heading back home in about a month. It was time to go back. Even though I had my fun here, I just want to see her and everyone. Lucas thought it was a good idea too.
I fixed my dress, putting on some earrings for the occasion. I don't know what Wayne is planning and I'm kinda getting nervous. What is he doing? As I put on my heels, I headed downstairs.
"Mr. Laurent." I jumped. He was on top the stairs. Was he waiting for me?
"Daphne." He clapped.
"You know you're not supposed to be on this part of the house." I told him as I got closer to him.
"I know, I just to talk to you."
"What would you like to talk about?"
"Wayne is planning on proposing to you at dinner." My heart sunk. Marry? My stomach curled. "I know that you don't want to get married but do it for Wayne." After Draco, I said I wouldn't marry. It was too painful for me to say yes.
"Do all respect, sir, I don't want to get married, not just with Wayne, I don't want to get married at all."
"I'm afraid you'll say that." Just as I was going to walk past him, he grabs my arm, pulling me closer to him. "If you don't say yes, it'll be a shame if the ministry of magic found out that Lucas fled to France because he was running away from his so called past." My head snapped at him. Was he blackmailing me?
"You wouldn't dare. What is it you want? Money? I'll give it to you."
"Don't worry about the money dear. What's more important? Having your last living family member by your side or having your last family member go to Azkaban?"
"You won't get away with this." I hissed at him.
"The choice is yours Miss Snape, or should I say Mrs. Laurent." I frowned as he walked away from me. I couldn't lose Lucas. He's the only family I have. When will it stop?
"Daphne!" Wayne smiles as I walked into the room.
"Hello Wayne." I put on a fake smile, so Lucas won't be concerned. The table was set, everyone was enjoying it and there I was, picking at the food. I didn't have the stomach to eat.
"The food is delicious Marc." Lucas said as he ate his meal.
"I know a thing or two. Waynes mother used to love the kitchen, making food was her passion." Marc Laurent looks at me and then down at his plate.
"I can't wait." Wayne turns to me. Its time. I felt Mr. Laurent's eyes piercing through my soul. "Daphne, I know it's been so quick, we meet a year and I feel like I've met you my whole life. You are very special to me and I don't want to let you go." He gets on one knee, showing the ring. Lucas chokes on his water, surprised. "Marry me, Daphne Snape." If she could, she would've thrown up right there because of the nerves. Lucas shakes his head.
"Of course. I'll marry you Wayne." I broke the silence. Wayne jumps up, kissing me. Marc started to clap, later Lucas joined but slowly. Wayne looked so happy. I didn't think he knew about his father's plan. He isn't that cruel, right? Wayne takes off the ring that Draco gave me and slides in the new one. This shattered my heart.
"To the newlyweds!" Marc raised his glass. Wayne pulls me close. I raised my glass and stared at Marc.

I stood in front of the mirror as one of Wayne's aunts fixed my dress. They had invited his entire family to the engagement party. He had a big family, insanely big. Was I stupid to do this?
"All set." She smiles at the mirror, making me force a smile with her. She rubs my arms. "You look absolutely beautiful, I bet your father and mother are so proud." She turns around. "Where are they anyway? They should be here, they can't miss your big day!"
"Excuse us." Lucas coughs. The woman excused herself, closing the door behind her. Lucas stands behind me. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing." My voice cracks. I turned to him, head down.
"I can see it in your face." He pulls me to sit down. "You can tell me."
"Just nervous." I lied. "Also wish that they were here."
"Do you want to marry Wayne?" If I tell him, knowing Lucas, he will go to Azkaban. He'll fo something and ill lose him either way. I just brushed it off.
"Of course! I can't sit around, crying." Even though I still do that. "Wayne is a great man." There was knock on the door, it was time to join the guest. Lucas kisses my head, not really convinced. I took last look in the mirror. As I stepped out of the room and saw a very smilely man standing in front of me. Wayne turns around, stunned.
"Wow." Wayne grabs my hand, rubbing his thumb over mine "Ready?" Before we were going to the room, I pulled him in. I pushed up his glasses and placed my hand on his cheek.
"Ready." We held hands, walking into the crowded room. Everyone was clapping, smiling at us. Wayne was ahead of me, waving back. I just walked, smiling at everyone. We sat our table, joining uncle Lucas, Marc and Valerie. I stared at the flowers in the middle of the table. Wayne started to say a speech that everyone wanted to hear. I zoomed out, remembering the good times.
"You know, a lot of you are thinking, wow you've been together for a year and Wayne popped the question." I heard everyone laughing. "When I met Daphne, she was making something to eat, and I scared her, making her jump. At first I thought she thought I was ugly. But that second thought, I was just so stunned on how beautiful she is. How can someone this pretty walk into my life. How can someone let her go, break her heart. The more we hung out, the more she had me under her spell. I thought she had me under amortentia, but I was just normally crazy about her."
Wayne takes Daphne's hand, the one with the ring, smiles down at her. Wayne adored everything about her. Thats why he married her within the year of dating.
"A toast to my soon to be wife." Daphne shakes her head, coming back to reality. "I love you more than anything." They all clinked glasses. Marc made eye contact with Daphne, sharing the same wicked smile that Fiona had. Wayne leans over and kisses her. "London here we come." He whispers to her ear. Right.
He was coming with Lucas and Daphne to the Castle to live. He was going to drop everything in France to go stay with Daphne at her childhood home. He was going to see how she lived, where she used to hang out at as a child, Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley, her friends. She wasn't ready to let Wayne see the real her.
