Haunting Night

"Welcome" Casey says dramatically, stepping out of the shadows at the side of the house.

"If you were attempting to be a creep, you succeeded a long time ago." Donnie glares " You obviously haven't picked up anything about hiding in the shadows and that mask lets someone see you from a mile away."

" Can we get going already?" Raph grumbles.

" Yeah" Mikey says " If we wait much longer We'll have to wait till tomorrow night."

"Fine." Casey sighs " The sooner you guys get there, the sooner I can get back to Score, Sweets and Screams."

"It's already nine." You say looking at you t-phone. "When do we come out?"

"Let's say nine AM." Casey says " I need my beauty sleep."

"By looking at you, I'd say you'd need at least a month for it to take effect." Donnie mutters under his breath.

You roll your eyes and walk up the few short steps to the door.

"Let's go guys." Leo says as he opens the door.

You enter the house and look around. The last of the sun's rays penetrate the dirty windows but it's not enough to see by. Donnie turns on his flashlight.

"Wow, this is awesome!" Mikey says running around trying to take everything in at once.

"Interesting." Donnie mumbles.

You flip your head lamp on and scan your surroundings. The outside had been dark, grey and in disrepair, the inside was only slightly better. All the colors were muted due to the thick coating of dust. The house would have been a beautiful Victorian style home back when it was cared for.

"The doctor part of the story seems to be right." Leo says pointing his light at the wall filled with certificates and awards.

"Come look at this!" Mikey calls from one of the side rooms.

You walk into the room towards Mikey's voice. He grabs you hand, pulls you over beside the big desk and points to a large black doctor bag.

"Do you think we can open it?" You ask.

"It should be ok as long as we handle it with extreme care." Donnie says as Mikey goes to pick it up.

"NO! Mikey wait!" Donnie yells just as Mikey tries to pick up the bag. But instead of being lifted off the floor, the handles come clean off.

"Oops." Mikey smiles sheepishly.

"Who knows how long that bag had been sitting there." You say "Do you think that the instruments in there might be considered antique?"

"Possibly." Donnie says. " You never know."

"Do you think we can get anything for this stuff on ebay?" Mickey asks.

You roll your eyes. Mikey had found the site a little over a week ago. He'd been looking for an old video game and found the online auction site. Mikey had been kinda obsessed since then.

"Let's keep going guys." Leo says heading back to the hallway.

The next room you enter appears to be the doctor's library. The whole room was floor to ceiling shelves. Every inch of the shelves was full of books.

"Wow." Donnie gasps as he skims the book titles. "Now, some of these might be worth something."

Really?" You say. "I thought that the books had to be really really old and first editions to be valuable."

"Yes, but most of these books are medical and some of them were only printed a few hundred times," Donnie says, "so you were lucky to own one. Most of them went to medical schools."

You nod, pulling a book off the shelf. As the hefty book slid into your hands, you marvel of the fact that you were holding a book that could be over a hundred years old.

"Um, Donnie, Do you think it's safe for me to open this?" You ask worried that it might fall apart like the bag.

"I wouldn't." Donnie advises "I wouldn't risk opening any of these"

"Hey Leo do you think it's safe to head upstairs?" You ask.

"I vote Mikey goes first."Raph says.

"Hey!" Mikey protests. " I think Donnie should go first. He has all the stuff in has bag to break his fall."

"No way!" Donnie glares at Mikey. "This "stuff" as you call it, is irreplaceable!!"

The turtles continued to argue getting louder by the second.

"Fine I'll go first!" You say fed up with the arguing. You head up the stairs before the turtles can say a word.

As you head up the stairs, you test each one before you put your full weight on it. A few stairs your decided to skip altogether. The turtles quit their arguing and follow you up. A loud crack from behind you echoes through the house. You spin around to see Raph with one foot almost through the boards of a stair that you skipped.

"You ok?" You ask.

"Yeah, Fine." Raph says . "I just cracked the wood. Barely made a dent."

Leo looks at you. "Be careful, ok?" You nod and continue up the last few steps.

"Don't use the second last step." You say. "It feels like it'll give way."

The turtles join you at the landing. You shine your flashlight down the hallway. You see about five rooms or so, and another staircase at the end of the hallway.

"Avoid those stairs at all costs." Mickey suddenly says." Those stairs probably lead to the attic and the attic is always where the ghost lives!"

"Did you get that from your comic books?" Raph asks rolling his eyes.

"NO." Mikey says definitely. "Well... Maybe."

"Mikey" Leo rolls his eyes "There are no such thing as ghosts"

"You don't know that" You say, siding with Mikey

"I'm pretty sure" Leo says, giving you the 'silly girl' look

"Sure doesn't mean they don't" You say "Sure just means you have a theory that hasn't been disproved yet."

"Show me something that says otherwise" Leo challenges

3rd person POV

Y/N pulls out her phone and starts showing Leo sites with stories about ghost sightings. Y/N didn't actually believe in ghosts. She didn't think they existed in any plane, but she did like winding Leo up. For some reason, Y/N liked to frustrate Leo as much as Raph did. She never took it that far and Leo never seemed to get that angry with her.

"Aren't the two lovebirds adorable?" Raph smirks, watching the pair.

"Why do you think they like each other?" Mikey asks "They're always fighting"

Donnie and Raph turn and look at their brother. Of course they didn't think that the youngest turtle would understand what they were talking about.

"Just kidding dudes" Mikey laughs "Anyone can see that they're super cute."

"Wait....you can see it?" Raph asks, bewildered.

"Dude, it's OBvious" Mikey rolls his eyes "Everyone knows about this"

"Except for them" Donnie says "I wonder when they'll pick up on it."

"Knowing our fearless leader, probably never" Raph says

"Should we tell them?" Mikey asks

"Nah" Raph says "We'll leave them be for a bit longer."
