The five of you steal down the stairs, making sure to avoid all the holes in the floor and into the backyard. You creep across the yard, forging through the overgrown grass and weeds. You keep looking behind you to see if anyone was looking out of the windows or back door. You had the feeling that you were being watched, but you saw no one. No one alive that is.You shake your head at the thought, Mikey was getting to you. As much as you want to find out what happened to the father and what he was doing, the living people in the basement had you worried. Nothing good goes on in the basements of abandoned houses. About halfway across the yard, Raph is swallowed up by the grass right in front of you. Thanks to the fact that you were slightly preoccupied and moving a few steps behind him, you avoided falling into the gaping hole in the middle of the yard.
"Watch the drop" You warn the others as they gather around the edge of a 5 foot wide hole. Donnie pulls out his high powered flashlight and shines it down. Looking in, you can see it was the remains of an old well. The rocks that used to be around it had all fallen to the bottom. The walls were all hard packed soil and stuck to one side, thanks to his sais, was Raph. He looks up at you squinting due to the flashlight. "Are you ok?"
"Would you mind not blinding me while I climb out of here?" Raph snaps
Mikey grabs the flashlight from Donnie and continues to shine it directly in Raph's face.
"Mikey, when I get outta here, I'm gonna...." Raph yells
"Raph!" Leo whisper shouts, grabbing the light from Mikey "Quiet! There might still be people around."
Leo points the flashlight behind Raph, so it illuminates the wall for the red masked turtle. Something at the bottom catches your eye. It reflects the light in a way that normal rocks wouldn't.
"Hey Leo, can you point the light right at the bottom please?" You ask "I think I see something down there."
Leo shifts the beam to the bottom of the well. What you see makes you jump back from the edge, drop to your knees and seriously think about throwing up. No one could have predicted that.
"What's wrong Y/N?" Mikey asks
"Bottom of the well" You swallow
"What?" Donnie says, peering into the hole "Oh....."
Raph looks down and climbs out real quick when he sees what caught your eye. A skeleton pinned beneath a number of rocks lies at the bottom. It looks like he fell in and part of the wall followed, not that he would have been able to climb out on his own anyway. You have a strong feeling that you had just stumbled on what happened to the father.
"Do you think it was the Dad?" Mikey asks
"It's very possible" Donnie says "The item remnants would suggest that, but I won't know for sure unless I go down there."
"Leave it" Leo says "It's safe to say that is him. We should keep going"
You slowly follow the turtles as you all make your way to the shed. You can't get your mind off what you had just seen. You couldn't imagine what that poor man could have possibly been feeling or thinking as he lay at the bottom of that pit. Your brain proceeds to come up with scenarios and each one was worse than the last and starts to segway into thoughts about what it would have been like if it was you, or one of your friends in that situation.
