You and Raph start at opposite ends and skim through all the titles. You get about halfway through your side when a voice in your ear makes you jump.
"You done yet?" Raph asks
"Don't scare me like that!!" You squeak
'Do what?" Raph asks innocently
"Sneak up on me like that" You exclaim "This house already messes with your head enough as it is..."
You trail off as you notice a smirk tugging at the corner of Raph's mouth. Raph chuckles as you mix him with a glare and go back to your search. It doesn't take you long to finish up.
"Either of you find anything?" You ask
Both of them shake their heads no.
'Next room it is" You say
The three of you head to the next room.
"Lady and Raph' Mikey says, in a gameshow host voice and a grin "what do we have behind door #2? Take a guess for fabulous prizes!"
"Open the door Mikey" Raph rolls his eyes.
Mikey swings the door open with a flourish. Before you is a young girls bedroom. The walls are painted a soft purple. The bed is made up in purple sheets and a purple cushion sits on a wheelchair next to the bead. The room was in perfect order, aside from the thick layer of dust coating the room
You take the first steps into the room. The boys slowly follow. None of you make a sound, it almost Seems wrong for there to be noise. It also feels kinda wrong to be in there at all. Each of you slowly migrate to a different section of the room, carefully Searching for clues.
You carefully go through the book shelf. It wasn't a large one, maybe 20 books in it, but one in particular caught your eye. A kids' book, but it was too thick. You carefully pull it out to find a notebook with a book cover as a decoy. You open it up to find an inscription.
"For our dear Maggie,
A place for your hopes, dreams and fears.
love,
Mom and Dad.
You stand there staring at the first page, Unaware of both Mikey and Raph standing behind you, reading over your shoulder.
"We should meet up with the others" Raph says" Leo said he and Don are done"
"Should we bring things?" You ask whether it should be left here?"
They look at you and shrug. You decide that if you were this girl, you wouldn't mind if another girl read your journal to find out the truth. You carefully close the book and tuck it into your backpack. As you follow the boys out of the room, you make a silent promise to Maggie that you would return the journal as soon as you found out the truth.
