"I found these books." Donnie says passing one to each of you. "Their the journals of the doctor who lived here!"
"Really?" Mikey says slowly opening the book. "Do you think that this is what the ghost wanted people to find?"
"If there was a ghost, then probably." You say not wanting to argue Mikey on the subject again. "So we need to read through all of these?"
"Well Between the five of us it shouldn't take that long." Donnie says "It's not like we need to read every word, we just need to skim the pages till we find the correct time in his life."
"And when would that be?" Raph asks.
"About the time of the accident at the hospital." You say picking up one of the books. "And anything that will tell us why he and his family left this house and why no one has lived here since."
"The ones in the second pile I'll go through." Donnie says pointing to the pile on his left. "I had a quick look at them all and these ones have tons of formulas and medicinal things in them."
"Fine by me." You say settling on the floor. Your back to a desk.
You look at your t-phone twenty minutes later. "Anyone find anything?" You ask standing up and stretching.
"Nope" Raph says snapping the book shut.
"Not me" Mikey says getting up.
"I might have" Leo says
"Donnie how about you?" You ask walking over to the purple clad turtle and giving him a tap on the shoulder.
"What happened?" Donnie asks, his head snapping up.
"You find anything?" You ask again
"Kinda." Donnie says looking back down at the book. "The chemical formulae in these books are super complex! I understand some of it but quite a bit of it I'll need to study further."
"Wow!" Raph exclaims "The nerd has finally found something he doesn't understand."
"Yet, Raph" Donnie says putting the book down "Something I don't understand yet. So, did you guys find anything?"
"Not me." You say "I had the one that had all the stuff about his wife and daughter when she was born."
"I had a bunch of docorty stuff." Mikey shrugs "I didn't get past the second page.
"All mine had was a bunch of love letters and poems." Raph grumbles
You fight the urge to laugh at the thought of Raph reading through all that stuff.
"Mine wasn't a journal like the rest of yours" Leo says "It was more like a record book about all his successes and failures."
"Man, A person who keeps records like that wouldn't be fun to be around." Mikey says
"He was a doctor Mikey." Donnie says "He was probably trained that way."
"And if he didn't keep proper records," You say "How would he make sure that he didn't make that mistake again? Or if something unusual worked, how would he remember after a long time?"
"I guess." Mikey shrugs "Still doesn't sound like a super fun guy to be around."
"What sort things did he record?" You ask
"The big one is his first failure." Leo says, scanning the pages "It was one of his beast friends. In here he vowed he would never make a mistake like that again."
"Harsh...yet understandable" Donnie says softly
You feel a lump forming in your throat. You can't imagine what you would do if you lost someone and known that you could've stopped it. You glance over at the others. The looks on their faces tell you that the same thoughts were running through their minds.
"Anything else?" You ask, breaking the sad silence
"Well I found something about neuro stimulators" Donnie says
"Nerowhatists?" Mikey asks
"Neuro stimulators" Donnie sighs "They are normally used to block pain signals going to your brain. But here, it seems he was using the same sort of tech to enhance the same signals instead of dampening them."
"And that means what?" You ask
"It means that this guy was trying to make signals from and to the brain stronger, not weaker." Donnie says "Like when I upgraded the wifi last month so you could get it everywhere in the lair."
"So what signals was he trying to strengthen?" Leo asks
"It looks like he was trying to find a way to make someone able to walk again" Donne says
"Do you think it was his daughter?" Mikey almost shouts
