Logan's P.O.V

Two weeks pass by relatively quickly. We've been practicing shooting almost everyday. I've picked up on it pretty quickly. I'm currently sitting in the living room with Patton, Roman and Virgil. It's midday. The adults are all in their rooms.

"Logan. Patton," my dad calls from the room he and my mom have been staying in. We stand up and walk to the room.

"Yes?" I ask as I enter with Patton.

"We want to talk about what you boys would like to do," my mom says.

"What do you mean?" Patton asks.

"Well you're both 18. We wanted to know if you guys wanted to stay here with your friends. We've already talked to Roman's and Virgil's parents. They're planning on staying here for a bit longer. We don't mind staying. Sierra already said it's fine. We even offered to get jobs in town so we can pay her rent. We just wanted to talk to you guys about it," my dad explains.

"You mean that we can stay?" I ask my parents.

"Do you want to stay?" my mom asks in return. She looks at both me and Patton.

"Well Roman and Virgil are family to me," I tell them seriously.

"Me too," Patton adds.

"We'd like to stay if possible," I continue.

"Okay. We'll stay. We feel as if everyone here is family as well," my mom says with a smile. I give a small smile as my parents pull both me and Patton into a hug.

"We love you boys," my dad tells us.

"We love you too," Patton and I say at the same time.

"Everyone get in here quick!" Virgil calls out. I pull back and share a look with Patton at Virgil's panicked tone. We make our way back to the living room with my parents. We enter the living room to find Roman's parents already there. Virgil's parents and Sierra rush down the stairs. Virgil is in front of the TV. I read the headline. It says Worldwide Pandemic.

"The government has declared a state of Martial Law due to this unprecedented outbreak of an unknown pathogen. Over 30% of the worldwide population has been infected. Here with me is General Adam Marks to explain exactly what's going on. Tell me what are the infected like?" the newscaster says.

"This pathogen is killing people and then those who have died come back. They then only have the need to feed. We are not quite sure why. The virus transfers from people through bites or scratches. This thing is spreading faster than we can contain it. Here's what to do for now. Report unusual behavior. Barricade your homes. Avoid all contact with infected individuals. Wait for more official instructions," the General says.

"Wait my ass," Virgil's father, Aaron says. "Come on Virgil. We're going into town. We need to buy more ammo. I knew this would spread," he continues.

"Now? Is it safe?" my father asks.

"Maybe not but we need as much ammo as we can get before things get worse," Aaron says as he heads upstairs. He comes back down with the two pistols. He hands the M9 to Virgil and keeps the revolver. Virgil puts it behind his back in his pants.

"I'll Venmo you some money. That way you can buy more ammo," Roman's father, Brian tells Aaron.

"That would be helpful. I only have so much in my checking and savings," Aaron thanks him.

"I'll send you some as well," my father says. Aaron nods.

"Let's go Virgil," Aaron tells his son. Virgil nods and follows his father out of the house. Aaron gestures for me to follow so I do.
